I've now got some guy trying to send me a paypal payment and arrange a courier for my Genki, despite me telling him it was collection only

He says he is buying it on behalf of family in Thornton Heath, it doesn't look like English is his first language, it just seems like another potentially dodgy buyer.

I'm losing the will to continue the journey to hifi happiness!

I sympathise. Some person in Vietnam with a UK shipping address won the auction on my speakers recently. The user had 0 bid history & 0 rating. Hmm. Anyhow I've been communicating with the winner seemily well, except the issue of giving me any money! Needless to say I've had to second chance offer it (again).

Does your head in doesn't it?

As you have listed as 'collection only' report the 'buyer' as 'non payer' on ePay. Easiest way out of it IMHO

I avoid adding a 'Buy It Now' facility as people just hit the buy it now button then disappear. A bit like knocking on someone's door and running away. It's a bit of a sad way to get entertainment isn't it?

It wasn't actually an ebay sale though, it was an ad on trade it, a local free ad paper/site, that's what made it seem so suspicious.

haven't heard from him since lunchtime so hopefully he has given up

something we must not do Smile

Update!

As i was hitting the post button i got the ding of outlook express, it was him telling me he is not fraudulant and that it's ok to pay by paypal, looks like he hasn't given up after all Smile

Absolutely!

It's getting laughable now, I replied saying I don't use paypal and don't have any way of safely packing the cd player to make sure it isn't damaged during delivery, I explained that's why it was a local ad and not ebay, I even appologised that i couldn't help and wished him luck finding one suitable.

He then replied to that saying Thanks for getting back to me here's a link to sign up for paypal.

Unbelievable!

Almost got scammed out of £90 from some pikey on Gumtree the other day when I was trying to buy a tent, weird story about paying at a newsagents beforehand and couriering?! I just copied the email into google and it seemed to have been repeated many times before, I count myself lucky.

I've sold well over a hundred items on ebay now and never really had any issues buying or selling, once or twice I've had problems and people are co-operative and we've come to some agreement. For me I find the best way is to get their phone number from ebay and talk to them direct, gets things done immediately and avoids confusion!

If you're having some issues selling and you haven't already sold it Pink Fish Media, all the people there are really genuine or try ebay but just make your listing look professional. Why do you have problems with couriers and paypal? Just pack it up well and use interparcel and it's very affordable and I haven't had any issues. Plus Paypal gift transaction charges no fees!

I think I've been very lucky after hearing what some people have been through....

Paypal gift transaction ... interesting! i have had many more problems selling camera gear thanLinn stuff to be honest. Different size markets I think.
