RE: Congratulations!!!!
We were a bit unsure about the first ten minutes, but after that we thought it went very well indeed. Some really spectacular stuff, with the rings and the cauldron.
I expect it'll be "Arise, Sir Danny Boyle" come the Christmas Honours! Source 1:- LP12/Radikal/Keel/Ekos II/Akiva/Urika Source 2:- Klimax Renew DS/iPad 2/Kinsky/Asset System:- KK/1/D - 3 * 2250s(D) - K600 - Aktiv Espeks All upgrades on hold whilst new boiler is financed! |

RE: Congratulations!!!!
Danny Boyle did a FANTASTIC job managing that lot.
And congratulations to everyone involved for keeping quiet about it. Me thinks the games will be a bit of a disappointment after that, but I cant help wondering what the closing ceremony will be like. How can he top that? RE: Congratulations!!!!
Thought it was amazing!I surprised myself how much I enjoyed it.There were so many highlights.Bond and the Queen,Beckham with the torch down the Thames and the Arctic Monkeys!!!
Shame Paul McCartney had to balls it up at the end.He should turn it in. I've read on other forums that people seem surprised that the Arctic Monkeys played. Why!?They are the best British band at the moment.Thank god there was no Muse. They suck big time! RE: Congratulations!!!!
Was great - but for those in the UK - some of the pleasure was diminished by the utterly innane commentary from Radio DJ Trevor Nelson - he (and the person who thought it was a good idea to have him add his words of wisdom to the proceedings) should never work again.
Some examples.... "Spain - I've been to Spain, it's in Spain..." "The audience are enjoying themselves" "All these countries no-one's ever heard of..." "My sister's out there somewhere" "I like those Bermudas" "Sierra Leone. My first car..." "I have a question for you Hazel - what's your favourite biscuit?" "I know you're all watching on TV, but it's great to be here!" Thanks for that Trevor - you've added real value there - or maybe (in the spirit of the event trying to show as many aspects of true British life as possible) you were there to represent the dumbing down of British Culture. ...somebody just told me i could have watched it Sans commentary by pressing the red button - if only i'd known! Also agree that Paul McCartney was more than a bit embarrassing - he should pack it in. Overall though - was superb - with Underworld deserving lots of credit for the musical direction. Not a try eye in my house - what British person could fail to have their heart melted by a Children's Choir singing Jerusalem (Should be the National Anthem in my view) Source: Klimax DS/1, Sneaky DS, Denon DVD-A1UD Control: Klimax Kontrol/1, Denon AVP-A1HDA Playback: Klimax Solo/1, Klimax 350P, Klimax 340A, Custom 2K 106C, Monitor Audio GXFX, Denon POA-A1HD |

Really liked it too, although 'relief' was our initial feeling. My wife is a nurse, so we particularly enjoyed the NHS tribute.

Total Pr*ck. +1 on Paul McCartney. Britain needs to stop wheeling out these geriatrics for our special occasions. Leave it to the young ones. Not sure Jerusalem would make a good 'New' national Anthem Matt. I think the bit about 'Englands green an pleasant lands' would piss off us Scots as well as the Welsh and the Northern Irish. Not biased, but I thought 'Scots' lassie, Emilie Sandi did a great job of 'Abide with me' I enjoyed a lot of it, but thought wheeling out Muhammed Ali was a huge mistake and not really a good example of inspiration for kids. Speaking about kids, it was supposed to be a show to inspire the youngsters, but most of them would be in bed at the time of night it went out. Bill.
