Getting prepared for the most interesting technology at parties
So, I finally had a housewarming party.

The day before I thought I would get with the programme, or modern times at least, and make sure that when friends came round and asked, "How do I play my music from my iPhone on your hifi?" I would know what to do.

So I picked up my iPhone, found iTunes on it, saw that there was a single-of-the-week that I could download for free, downloaded it and played it. I then clicked on the little icon that let me select Living Room: DS rather than iPhone. And bingo, the song played through my hifi.

My RipNAS is still on its way back from repair, but I put some studio masters on my laptop and put these on shuffle play. Two guys were interested in the hifi, I forgot to ask if they had music on their phones, but I played internet radio, a local 32kbps, then Linn Classical at 320kbps, then a studio master track or two, but then for most of the time they dived into my vinyl collection and so we mostly played stuff on my LP12! This young guy in his 20s wanted to hear some opera (go figure) and this guy nearly my age wanted to hear the music from 2001, the Planet Suite, The Clash and The Jam.

What little icon?

It's the upwards facing arrow that points at a widescreen.

This appears in the Music app when you're iPhone is connected wirelessly into your home network.

Cheers, I'll try it again when I get home.

Update....

No luck, I presume I am missing something.

Downloaded same song to iPhone and played it ok. Connected iphone to network using wifi, opened music app (that came installed on the phone) but fail to get the control bar at the bottom of the screen as you have shown above. I'm also too inept to insert a picture of the control bar I have but it is simply back, play/pause and forward symbols.

If I've missed the obvious please be gentle in any replies!

Are you on Davaar 7? You need Davaar for AirPlay to work, and Davaar 7 resolves the stuttering problems of earlier versions.

Main System: Renew DS > Exotik+DA/D > A2200/D > 242s (mk2)
& A3200/D > 106c, 104c's (using Linn Silvers & K400, on Hutter rack)

Dining Room: Sneaky DS > Majik 109s (using "K200")
Bedroom: Majik DS > Tivoli Radio Model 3 + Companion Speaker

Thanx guys I'm in over my head. Fortunatly my mate the Linn dealer will be this way tomorrow (100 Kms out of town so quite fortuitous).

Will flick the problem to him, so I can go to work and get paid to solve problems and then I can pay him to solve my problems; perfect free market!

I don't know if this is AirPlay - that term doesn't appear on my iPhone - only the above image from the Linn website.

I'm using D7 yes.

On your image, look just above the word "iPad", in white text Smile

You might want to restart your iPhone. I had the problem with a missing Airplay symbol. After some troubleshooting I just had to restart my Ipad. It had to start with my home HiFi in range, Airplay doesnt work if I for example start the Ipad up at office and then bring it home.
