New version of HDMI Majik DSM iminent?
I ordered a HDMI version of the Majik DSM a couple of weeks back and my dealer is saying it has not yet shipped as there is a new version coming.

He thinks it will ship some time after the 30th from Scotland. Its something about having software updates pre installed (so I do not have to worry) and moving the power switch to the front (but I thought all HDMI version were like this anyway?)

What are peopled thoughts on this? My card was charged weeks ago. Does it sound legit? How can I confirm I actually get this later version and Is there a way to check with linn directly?

I am a little afraid to approach the dealer directly as there are so few to choose from here.

New version of HDMI Majik DSM iminent?
I have this hdmi mdsm with the switch up front and I got the first and only one in hong kong about a month ago. Per my dealer who is also the Hk and china distributer linn is allocating very few per dealer due to a supply vs demand thing. He said they only got three for all of china (with the other two going to mainland) till I got mine and all three including mine were were sold before arriving and everyone else will have to wait at least another month.

I think he is just waiting for his shipment.

Hi pendoric

Sorry to hear you are experiencing a delay in acquiring a Majik DSM.

I can confirm that we started shipping our new (HDMI) version of the Majik DSM in April 2012.
I can also confirm that we have shipped a significant quantity of these products throughout the world.
May I ask who your dealer is and where they are located?

This new version (2012 variant) of the MDSM is easily identifiable by the existence of HDMI sockets on the back panel.

RE: New version of HDMI Majik DSM iminent?
I had the chance to listen to the Majic DSM, Majic DS and Akurate DSM just about one week ago.
For budget reasons I decided for the Majic DSM with Audio Physics Sitara 25 speakers. I need speakers which I can place close to the wall ( room =32 sqm ) and the bass should not be too pronounced. My Linn dealer said these speakers need more amplification and the power of the MDSM is not powerful enough to drive them.
Unfortunately he did not give me the chance to check it out with this amplifier as he used an Akurate 2200 to make the demonstration.
After having asked some experts they are all surprised about this statement.
It would be nice if anybody could give me an an advice ?

The Audio Physic speakers should be positioned as far as possible from any wall in order to get the best performances. The Sitara is a revamped version of the Spark, no problem with the Majik DSM but the room seems a little bit on the large side (max 25 square meter on the AP website). Near the wall you are going to loose the great imaging capabilities of the AP......

thanks vm.for the quick reply, unfortunately I have to place the speakers about 30 to 40 cm close to the wall. There are not so many speakers which perform best when you cannot place them as you should. I have now old B&W CDM 7 SE which perform well with my Rotel RMB 100. But after so many years it is time to change I believe. Sorry we are a bit off topic here, but good you confirmed the MDSM can drive the Sitara.
Any other recommendation ?

If you are looking for good speakers to go with the MDSM in a smallish room, I suggest you try the Totem Arros. You will be amazed... They should also fit your budget.

If you want something you can place close to the wall, try the Guru QM10. It is designed to be against the wall in fact and works very well with the Majik DSM in my opinion.

I am going with the larger model, Guru QM60 which also can be placed directly against the wall and I have the 2011 MDSM model.
