Album Art
Hi Everyone,

Just having a frustrating time trying to change album art. I've just ripped a couple of albums using ripstation microDS, one of which has the wrong album art attached to it. So, using "Tag & Rename" I removed the art and replaced it with the correct art - (a jpeg 13.9kb was added to each individual track file). I also I removed the original incorrect JPG & PNG files which appear at the bottom of the track/file list on the NAS so they did not confuse things. A rescan of Twonky was carried out but the artwork just comes up as a blank thumbnail on Kinsky. So next I tried removing the art tag from the individual files and then placing the new JPG file in the file folder on the NAS - (where the incorrect art used to be) and rescanned - still no good.

I'm using Tag & rename 3.4.6
And Twonky 4.4.6

Any ideas please!

PS It seems that adding art that was missing from the outset works OK, but trying to REMOVE & CHANGE artwork does not ??

Hi

Check for punctuation in the folder (directory) name: Remove ampersands and apostrophe's (change path names like B52's into B52s and things like Crosby Stills Nash & Young into Crosby Stills Nash and Young) then rescan.

I've a longer post on artwork both here and in the Twonky forum, but the punctuation in the path statement will cause a problem.

Might also be worth updating to TMS4.4.11 as I found it slightly better at picking up certain ones which 4.4.6 just didn't; I now have only one album where I've had to embed art (and remove the Folder.jpg) whereas with 4.4.6, it was about 6 albums.

If you have a Netgear ReadyNAS, updating TMS is rerally easy.

RE: Album Art
Thanks Bri,

However this particular album must be one of the few that doesn't have apostrophes, &s etc. (Spent many a happy hour removing same from other albums!)

So I'm still scratching my head here..........

Yes, I've got one which simply won't work and there's no apparent reason why not as two similar ones do work! For that, I had to embed art and all was well. Which sort of NAS are you using?

I'm using Netgear ReadyNAS ! Just downloaded both TMS 4.4.11 (and 4.4.6 !) They're sat on my desktop right now. Not sure what will happen when I click on "RUN" so I'm hanging back for now...

Meanwhile I'll try embedding art as well as having the art file in the folder as a standalone.

RE: Album Art
Hi

The correct ReadyNAS file is here: http://www.twonkyforum.com/unsupported/4...4.4.11.bin

As you can see, it is a binary (ends in .bin) and you can't simply run it as you would with a Windows exe file (if you could, that would be incorrect as running it on the PC would try to install it on the PC; you want it installed on the NAS).

Don't worry though, the upgrade process is really easy to do:

Open ReadyNAS Frontview either by typing its IP address followed by /admin into your browser (like 192.168.1.10/admin) or by using RAIDar to find it.

Select System (left menu) then Update then Local (one of the tabs) then browse to the file (TwonkyMedia_4.4.11.bin) and select Upload and verify image.

Once uploaded, you'll see that it's Twonky and can then hit the update button

After a minute or so, you will be directed to the reboot page where you select Shutdown and reboot then hit the Apply button (bottom right).

After it has booted up, finished the installation and finished rescanning the library (the activity light has stopped flashing) which could take 20 mins or longer (if it's a large collection), reboot the NAS once again (you can do this much later but remember to do it sometime today or the NAS won't hibernate properly; best to do it now so you don't forget).

Once booted, if you select the internet radio tickbox (Twonky config pages) and do a full database rebuild, you will find you now have internet radio as well!

Hope that makse sense; it's pretty easy but please ask if you are unsure of any of the above (send PM to alert me if you have a question).

RE: Album Art
NB Twonky looks for embedded art first, only if that's not there does it look at Folder.jpg.

RE: Album Art
Bri, Thankyou SO much !!

When I'm feeling brave I will upgrade to 4.4.11 using your instructions above.

Whilst you were writing said instructions, I thought I'd tackle this problem from a different angle.........

I ripped the rogue disc again, but this time forcing artwork NOT to be found. Ithen obtained the artwork from Amazon (very straightforward as you know). Then using T&R added it to the disc before sending to the NAS. Showed up on Kinsky straight away - Sorted !!
So it seems one can add art no problem, but changing it - well that's another story.

One day ALL the workarounds will be on this Forum !!

Many Thanks once again to Bri !!

RE: Album Art
Hi

I'd be interested to see how you get on with 4.4.11 and as you can see, it's really quick to do the update. I think it handles are a wee bit better than 4.4.6 did but I'm not sure what's been done to it.

Well Brian.........

Last night I did load up 4.4.11 as you described - easy - just as you said it would be. Unfortunately I now have problems. Art that was there is now not (just the odd one that was a problem before which I'd sorted) but more worrying, my playlists aren't being recognised. I'd like to go back to 4.4.6 but cannot - I don't have it anywhere. I've PMd you with more info.
A possible answer is that the content directory for scanning is incorrect, it is currently
/c/media/Music
I think it was like this before but can't be sure. I would have thought the NAS should be featured in this line? The thing is all other content appears to be scanned except the playlists.

HELP !!!

STOP PRESS

OK Panic over.........

With a little lateral thinking I managed to download 4.4.6 (by substituting the 11 with a 6 in your download link)
Having loaded TMS 4.4.6 my playlists are back - Phew - don't think I'll be messing around with it again for a whileRolleyes

It seems the directory scan settings were correct.

Can't understand what went wrong..........

Anyways, I'm still having problems changing (no problem adding) cover art. Not entirely sure Tag & Rename is working as advertised. (Maybe TMS is cacheing the old art somehow?) Anyone using something other than T&R to succesfully change cover art?
