XLD Folders
Does anyone know if XLD can be set to store rips in folders corresponding to Artist and Album names as occurs with dbPoweramp? No matter what I do, XLD outputs only a list of tracks to the NAS.

What am I missing?

THanks.

I go into preferences and the set the path, creating a folder for the artist & album being ripped if not there already. When the cd has loaded, and before ripping, click the get metadata button to get album art and tracks etc. If there is no art then search the Internet for the album and drag the album cover onto the space where is for it. Then rip and you should have everything the way you want.

Hopefully this helps but let me know if not and I will see what might be wrong

So you're saying that in the Path Box, you define the folder you want each time. Is that right?

I've done that, but it's a major pain. Other rippers do this automatically. I was thinking maybe there is something to enter in the Custom box that would cause it to happen.

I've also gone the NAS after each rip and put the tracks where I want them, but as you might guess, this really slows things down.

You can "define" the path using wildcard string for artist and album as read from the tags.

RE: XLD Folders
This sounds very odd. I have never experienced this issue, and have not messed around with any special settings. I have checked the box which puts an entry in my iTunes library (so that I can subsequently use iTunes to post edit metadata if necessary) but I can't imagine that this would make any difference to how the music files are first output/organized by XLD.

Hi Glainc

in dbpoweramp CD Ripper,

1) Set your Rip to Flac or what-ever your using.
2) Set your path to your main music storage volume. Mine is on a Synology server so it ends up being \\SS-1\Music\ for me.
3) Set your naming. for me it is:

[IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],[IFCOMP]Various Artists[][IF!COMP][artist][][]\[album]\[track] [artist] - [title]-[track][composer]

From the main Music folder, all rips are broken down by artist, and in the artist folder, each album, in each album folder, all the ripped songs and appropriate jpg.

Thus, my Diana Krall artist folder has currently, 2 albums, The Look of Love and Quiet Nights in their respective sub-folders.

Hope this helps and is appropriate for your needs.

Cheers

Bob

You may be right and there may be a setting that does it automatically but I do not know of any. I agree that it would save some time.

RE: XLD Folders
This is not right. Mine creates the right folder automatically. I am away from home until end next week but will check my settings in XLD when back and let you know how I have it set up. Each new album rip creates a corresponding new folder with the correct name in the right place according to the metadata of the incoming CD (or as occasionally modified by me in the XLD meatdata edit, pre-rip).
