Manuals and Video's !
I have just spent the most part of the day clearing out the garage, and I've found a few gems along the way.
Up for grabs are several Linn original manuals as follows:- Linn Karik / Numerik Linn Ikemi / Genki Linn Kairn Linn Kudos Linn Keltik Linn Klout Also, I have the wonderfully quirky Linn Instruction videos on VHS tape for the following:- Linn Numerik Linn Kairn Linn LK100 Linn Klout Linn Karik If anyone wants one of these (Not to sell on eBay!) then please PM me, and I'll send it to you; just cover the packing/postage costs. ![]() First come, first served.............. RE: Manuals and Video's !
I'm not interested personally, but I think this is a great gesture to make sure these materials survive. The factory could do with some of these to build an archive of their own stuff!

RE: Manuals and Video's !
I did moan about the new web site not having manuals for older products. I've not checked that recently, but the last time I did (relatively recently) there were still no links to them.
My view is that if you buy an older product and then look on the manufacturer's web site and find the book for it, it makes you think the manufacturer is very helpful and supportive. If you don't find it, you get the impression that the manufacturer only cares about shifting tin (flogging their current products). That could be important when the buyer of the second hand product decides to upgrade to new kit; the idea that it will be supported long into the future is an important consideration when forking out a substantial investment in your new device. To go to the other extreme; I have other high quality (non-hifi) devices in the house and recently tried to find a manual for one of them. The manufacturer had removed all the older product manuals from their site and I decided not to buy anything from that manufacturer again. I hope Linn reconsider this dropping of older product manuals as that same scenario might impact on them. The silly bit is that the manuals are actually on line, but you have to know the link to them; surely the below link should simply be added to the new site? Okay, not very sexy just having an FTP page, but surely it's a billion times better than having nothing at all! Old handbooks Bri PS The old videos would be fun! Shame Linn wouldn't be interested in hosting them on their server (I assume not from the obsolete handbook situation). Youtube would be a great idea if anyone had the time (and tech) to convert them to digital files. |

RE: Manuals and Video's !
Thanks for the link Brian. Been looking for it for ages (and have now bookmarked it)
I agree, LINN should have old manuals available, after all it wont need a lot of server space or bandwidth. RE: Manuals and Video's !
Yes indeed! The thing is that it would require no additional storage space as they're up there already; all it needs is for that FTP link to be added to the new web pages (about a 30 second task if you have admin access to them).

RE: Manuals and Video's !
Noticed that the M-DS and Unidisc SC manuals are not listed in that little treasure trove you unearthed, Bri. And I agree with the notion of archival material being made available. ARC, Manley, and the Equity Group are rather wonderful in this regard (likely amongst a few others that I am unaware of); it does inspire a wee bit more confidence in the company whether buying new or old kit, as you say.
KDS, LP-12/Radikal/Ekos 2/Akiva --> Uphorik/D --> stuff. |
