Hi Warren, yes, I would agree that seems to be the way the market dictates. Trouble is, you then spend hours chasing around rather than listening, and its the latter we all enjoy.

Also, format and quality can vary. I bought some 24 bit albums from HD tracks and they sounded quite poor compared with all other studio masters I'd heard. I later rebought them from the original record company channel classics and they sounded amazing. Also these were at 192 kHz where as the hdtracks files were 88.2 kHz, either way that involves an unnecessary (pointless) extra remastering.

I've heard the Linn snippets of this album, and it does seem a touch 'down' on his previous releases. Anyone bought it yet, and played it a few times?
