SkweezyDs plugin for SqueezeCenter

Hi Rockfather

I'd suggest that we don't rush in to releasing this till I've seen if it remains reliable. So far so good though :-)

Also there are several 'dsSock->send' calls in Linnds.pm and if we are going to do this properly I'd suggest using a subroutine to use in place of any send call that tests the connection and attempts to reopen if dead before sending the data.

You might also want to check that my clean up code for a dead socket is correct. I'm not quite sure if closing the old one and then calling 'new' to create a new was entirely correct but it was the best I could do with limited time and knowledge.

Finally, there is one other posting on the forum about Skweezy and a Touch doing odd things as regards pairing. It might be worth getting him to try my mod as well.

Do let me know if you would like me to do any more tests.

SquuezeCenter on WHS with DS definitely works. Softsqueeze is most likely the issue - do you have a hardware Squeezebox you can try ?

If not then capture a logfile as described in the users guide and let me have it (use PM) and I will try to decode what is going wrong. Best to capture from startup of SqueezeCenter

Is it possible the plugin to install under SB Server 7.6b?

I have to install skweezyDS under 7.5x, but it works perfectly well with SB Server 7.6b when I migrate to this version.

SB Server 7.6b is 100% better compared to older versions, mainly because of the new database layout and clip art handling.

So please remove the restriction in your code which prevents fresh installations on newer versions of Squezebox server if such exists.

I totally agree with the suggestion do not rush the releasing.

I started to get a very interesting phenomena on the daily 7.6 beta. Playlists load up fine and skweezy reports "Now playing xxx" on the web interface, but I have to press "play" in kinsky or linn remote to start playback. If I switch song in kinsky, squezebox web interface is correctly updated. But it seems squeezebox server no longer kicks the Akurate DS into play! Cara 10.

I wonder what could cause such behaviour. Previously squezecenter would wake up the DS even if it was in standby.

After further testing it might be Kinsky Desktop who intercepts/interfears with SkweezyDS. Is there any recommendation on Skweezy/Kinsky interoperability?

If you use Kinsky to control the DS in conjunction with SkweezyDS then Skweezy will get lost. You may however use Kinsky to view what the DS is doing with no adverse affects

Hi Rockfather,

I just updated my DS with Davaar and tried to load the 4.1.1 SkweezyDs plugin in SC 7.3.2.

The plugin appears to load correctly, but when accessing the settings in order to pair my SB3 I get a: 404 Not Found: settings/plugins/SkweezyDs/settings.html

I've tried manually installing the .zip and got the same result. I've seen this problem before when I used to manually install in SC 7.2 and didn't unzip the .zip on the NAS, which I think messed up the file permissions.

Have obviously restarted SC several times, rebooted the ReadyNAS and cleared SC's cache and database...

[edit] Have uninstalled 4.1.1 and re-installed 3.2.1 which works fine. Tried upgrading to 4.1.1 and got the same 404 Not Found error.

I'm confused - this has not been seen or reported by anyone else. The settings page has not been changed between Cara and Davaar versions, so I'm surprised that one version should show an issue and the other does not.

It may be worth trying to access the actual settings folder (settings/plugins/SkweezyDs/settings.html) and see what is in there, and what the permissions are
