Help needed with Twonky
Hi, I am a new user of DS. I have got the hang of ripping but I am having problems with Twonky(version 1.0.0.115). When I drag the playlist into main room(DS) it sometimes cuts off playing half way through. The skip/pause does not work at all. When I go to now playing it does not always show anything. I have to close down Twonky after playing a playlist because it will not accept another playlist straight after. The playlist just goes into a queue and will not play. Sometimes play here the main room is on the left and then the right. My question is is this the current version and if not what is and will I be able to import everything have on Twonky to another version. Any advise is welcome. Thank you.

RE: Help needed with Twonky
Hi
Twonky MediaServer 5 has some major issues and I have now sent a FLAC library to Germany for them to see what's up. At the moment, you'd be best using TMS4.4.11 (which probably won't work with TMM1; I've no idea as I've never tried the TMM1. The main issue with TMS5 is with large libraries and the lack of configurable music tree but it's possible you've found another bug. What are you using Twonky on; is it a NAS? Can you see the list of music on the Twonky web interface? Do you have another control point? If not, download the Linn GUI (or Kinsky desktop) and see if it works with your current version of Twonky. If none of the above work, you mignt need to remove TMS5 and use TMS4 but let me know before you do this as there is also a major removal problem with the ReadyNAS version. Bri |

RE: Help needed with Twonky
Hi Bri,
I am using Twonky on a computer in e drive. I don't understand all the other things you mention being a novice. There is no music list and I don't have any of the devices you mention. What should I do? Many thanks for your usual friendly an supportive help. Hi Briain Wrote:Hi |

RE: Help needed with Twonky
Hi
Sorry if the below is a bit repetitive in places; I've edited it a couple of times and changed things round but don't have time to tidy it up at the moment. You need three things to make a DS system work: 1. A media server (Twonky Media Server TMS4.4.11) 2. A controller (The Linn GUI but I think you're using TMM1) 3. The DS itself! Both these first two things can be on the same PC (or the media server can be on one machine and you can control it all from another; like a PDA or another PC) When you say you are using Twonky(version 1.0.0.115) it sounds like you have installed Twonky Media Manager which I don't think anyone has yet tried as a controller for a Linn DS (I've heard nothing mentioned about it, but I could be wrong). I think TMM is both these things (controller and server) but I haven't really looked at it yet. I suspect TMM is based on Twonky Media Server version 5. I've tried TMS5 and it's full of bugs which Twonky are currently looking into. Since it didn't work too well, I didn't even bother to look at TMM. If my assiumptions are true, you could install the Linn GUI. You might also have to remove TMM (and TMS5) and install TMS4.4.11 but let's see if you can get it to play anything with TMM by downloading the GUI first (it should talk to the server part of TMM and tell it to stream music to your DS) As for the questions: Re: Can you see the list of music on the Twonky web interface? Try typing the PC's IP address followed by port 9000; http://your.pc.ip.address:9000 (something like http://192.168.0.1:9000). This brings up a web browser which can show you all the stuff on on your music server (in your case, the media server is Twonky on your PC). It's just another way to see what's working and what's not, but you don't have to worry too muich about this; try installing the Linn GUI first (see below) and if that works, it proves everything else is working. Re: Do you have another control point? As stated above, I assume you are trying to use TwonkyMediaManager to select and play the music. If that's the case, try downloading the Linn GUI from here and see if it works. Even if you choose to use something else in the longer term, the Linn GUI is stable and will enable you to test your current setup (your media server) without the unknowns of TMM Let us know if you can get the GUI working first, then we can take things from there.
