Building The Ultimate Linn LP-12
If you were to build the ultimate LP-12, with any available components on the market, how would you spec your LP-12?

Don't worry about cost for this exercise. Tongue

Which cartridge would you choose, and why?

Which tone arm, plinth, power supply, etc.? And why would you choose those components?
Akubariks, Aktiv 112 Centre & 109 Surrounds, Classe SSP-800, Akurate DS/1, 2 X Majik 6100's(D), XLR/RCA Linn Silvers, K400, OPPO 105
Tweaks: Shunyata Hydra Triton, Shunyata Zitron Cobra Power Cords, Aurelex Bass Traps

LP12 SE .. straight up... full tilt... Akiva cart Right now I cannot decide which plinth I would choose... Wink


The Aro, and top end DV would need to be sitting right next to this.. Radikal/ Keel of course...

You know they say 'the grass is always greener...'


If cost is really no concern, I would probably play with some of the top end Koetsu carts... The Akiva is hard to beat for the price. And considering it has a finite life, I would want at least another Akiva when time comes to replace it...

No clues on the cartridge.

I would never build the ultlimate LP12, I got Peter to do that.
What would it have ?
A Harban Artistic plinth in Cocabolo, A Radikal,Keel, Ekos SE, with TP Skale and Khan,
and Dynavector XV-1T. The reason I chose this cartridge was simple, it was the best I'd ever heard, you can read more about the why here........ http://forums.linn.co.uk/bb/showthread.php?tid=10412

That is my ultimate LP12, and the Serial number was 008 Peter Swain Signature.
It sounds pretty ultimate too.

Just for your interest, I've just fitted an Ekos Se this afternoon to this rather nice Spalted Maple and Pawed LP12 - It's just in the jig now - I just have to re-fit the Urika Smile

The sub-chassis will be replaced in due course as will the XX2, this will most likely be the final upgrade.......As and when;
