Yes, Rush. It was the first record that I ever bought. Noticing it was available prompted me to pull it out of the rack and give it a spin. Still very very enjoyable.

Re: 2112
I have the CD/Bluray, moving pictures is also available on this format. I have ripped the blu ray stereo and it sounds good on the ds but the 5.1 is better in the blu ray player, the slightly improved sq of the ds is beaten by the extra channels. I would recommend them!

Listening to it now (via Spotify) with the indoor bowls on telly, quite surreal!

RE: 2112
Yes, I already have Moving Pictures on Bluray/CD and would agree the surround sound version is superb - might just go then for 2112 Bluray for my imminent birthday. Let us hope Permanent Waves follows. Funnily I love that album except now for Spirit of Radio which is the only Rush track Radio 2 ever play!

RE: 2112
I saw the 2112 new DVD/CD remaster thing in HMV... didn't get it as I already had the Moving Pictures Blu-Ray 24/96 Limited Ed etc and don't have the 5.1 to do it justice. The 24/96 remix on the DVD/bluray wasn't able to be decoded by my 5103 anyway. The Cd sounds nice and tight...
I did, however, download the 2112 ALAC from the Linn website for £18. Sounds a bit different to my old CD version. Not sure it's that much of a difference, more textured but less bite somehow. Fuller. The opening twangs of Discovery are noticeably good, mind. Very spacious. I recommend getting just the tracks you want - note the 2112 side is just one track, no indexes. I don't need a 24 bit version of 'Tears'. Klimax Renew DS > AK/0/D > Majik 6100 > Chakra Activ Kaber. |
