ABC, DEF etc. for artists and albums). Pronto cannot handle lists that are too large due to memory limitations. |

RE: Thanks to Everyone....
Luis Wrote:Done that changed level to 1 to get a, b, c ,etc. The problem is with compilation albums. Di i have to do anything with that? Hi I've about 15000 FLAC tracks of which almost 7000 are on compilation albums. I've put a large and extremely tedious post here and if you can get to the end of it without either falling asleep or getting the urge to jumping off a high building, you might find bits of it quite useful! ![]() I've also posted examples of two tree settings; the second of which is much easier to use (and looks better on a GUI) and is thus the one I currently use to navigate my collection (attahced pic below). If you start to use the albumartist tag, it totally transforms the nature of finding tracks, artists and albums. In my case, there are 600 album artists and 5000 contributing artists; I use the 600 long albumartist field to select an album, and also have the artist tag to find any of the 5000 contributing artists tracks from the compilations. It sounds a bit confusing but when you see how it works, it's a pretty good system. You will have to add the albumartist tag to your single artist albums but it can take about 5 minutes if you fully follow (and understand) the process (try it on a couple of albums first though; you don't want to accidentally badly tag your entire collection). Hope it helps (and wear a safety line if you go for the high building option). It probably needs a bit of tidying (it does go on a bit) and I'll get round to doing that some day soon. Bri |

Listen I got an advice from Sonos people, and I used Media Monkey, find it easier to use than mp3tag. What I did is for example on collection that I have of Guitar Rock, on each album, i grouped them together and label them under Album Artists "Guitar Rock", on the individual tracks did nothing, when I rescan Sonos everything came fine, on the artists list there is one of Guitar Rock, and under it all the different albums. I did the same with the other ones just labeled the Album Artist "Various Artists", Knowing this what can I do on Twonky for them to show as on Sonos, some of them do, but other don't like Guitar Rock don;t show. Hi I think I see what you’re trying to do but I’d use the genre tag. Using genre/album (node 7 in my above tree) for doing this in Twonky would show what you wish. I’ve just looked at my Sonos and it groups genre tagged tracks into albumartist, then sub-groups them into albums below the albumartist name, so should be fine for that use too. Try it on a couple of albums and see how you get on with both systems. From memory, the trouble with Sonos (and with SlimServer too) is that they handle the albumartist tag in a slightly unusual way by showing both albumartist and artist in the same list. If you populate most albums with the albumartist tag, they then assume this replaces the artist tag and don’t show albums under an artist’s name where this tag is left empty. Twonky is better in that it completely separates the two tags and thus permits you to list albumartist for albums and artist for tracks. Bri |
