Gain Setting on Akurate 4200
I took delivery of a pair of A4200 amplifiers a few weeks back and had my existing Aktiv cards transferred across. Everything looks and sounds fine, but one thing bugs me - the settings for the gain pots!

On my previous Majik amp and any Akurate amps I've seen the gain adjustment pot was set to a default of 3 (0dB). On these new amps the pot not only looks different, it's marked differently. I've attached a photo of the gain pot. Notice there is now a marker for 0 with other markings for -3, +4 and mute. At this point, I'm assuming that these correspond to dB values and are equivalent to the old switch positions 3, 0, 7 and mute.

Am I assuming correctly?

It seems more straight forwards than the older version.

The numbers are dB so 0 is default, -3dB to + 4dB

So yes you assume correctly.

RE: Gain Setting on Akurate 4200
How will you use 4200 to drive your 109 speaker as aktiv mode ?

Quadraspire AVM + LPS + Shunyata Hydra AV + Defender + Zitron Python, Alpha Digital & Cobra

Super Tweeter and Tweeter on one 4200 with Bass on the other 4200.

RE: Gain Setting on Akurate 4200
I see, since you have a pair of Akurate 4200 power amps, will you consider 1 4200 dedicated for the left speaker and the other 4200 for the right speaker, then make it like mono building.
That's what I am doing for Majik6100 driving 212 speakers as aktiv mode.

RE: Gain Setting on Akurate 4200
It was an option, especially since I was already familiar with mono block setup before I went all Linn about 2 years back. However, having read thread at Lejonklou and discussed with dealer etc I chose the more tried and trusted route described above.

Checked, it was mentioned option 3 of that post should be more integrated and can't hear from 4 speaker units.
Still recommend to try option 3 by yourself as comparison.

Correct suggestion by heickc.
