Can anyone comment on the following speaker comparison: AV5140 aktiv running off two A4200/1 versus A212/0 quad-wired passive. Thanks for your input.Smile

You are going to lose some bass extension with the 212 but gain a lot in mid range and treble clarity. Would really suggest trying the 212 in your own room if possible. Personally went from original Isobariks to 212s and loved the move. We have quite a small lounge and they just work superbly. 242s would add back the bass.

That is pretty much what I suspected. I'll eventually go with 242s, but there are a pair of 212s [cherry] with stands for $2300 available, and a pair of 242s for $2200 [black finish], I was considering [black won't pass the WAF Sad, so I thought of the 212s]. Many thanks.

With two A4200s you could run the 212s aktiv and get slightly lower bass.
Just need a set of cards.

On paper the bass extension of the 212 is 70Hz whereas the 242 is 49Hz

5140 goes down to 30Hz. I thought the comparison was with that.
