BluRay from Oppo into Kisto
Some here decode BluRay sound formats on their oppo 105 and feed the analogue outs (blacks or silvers?) into their Kisto.

Surely the Kisto has vastly better DACs. Also I've only a 83se currently.

Is it really worth doing this? Surely a slightly lower res format converted by the Kisto would give much better results.

Thanks for your experience and wisdom.

RE: BluRay from Oppo into Kisto
Personally I use the Oppo. The Kisto would not decode the HD audio streams from Bluray, you could not even get them to the Kisto as they are not supported over S/PDIF. Further we tested the Oppo versus the Majik DS and we found the Oppo superior on straight stereo music streamed from our server. The Oppo DAC, the ESS Sabre is/was pretty much state of the art.

Agreed. I use Linn Silver XLR balanced cables into the Kisto from my previous BDP-95 and now my BDP-105 for the analogue stereo. Very impressed with the quality of the balanced stereo sound. I use Linn Silver RCA for the analogue multichannel. Better than the Unidisk IMHO.
The OPPO also decodes the latest DTS and Dolby HD surround and supports 24/192. The Kisto is restricted to 24/96.
As a very good streamer the OPPO also supports multichannel streaming which no Linn products do. Big Grin
I have also tested the OPPO Optical out into the Kisto. The OPPO analogue sounds better.

Yes, I do the same. I use the balanced stereo output on the Oppo for music and the 7.1 for movies although I only use 5.1.

The Kisto is still critical to the best sound as a stereo and multi-channel analogue preamp though.
