QNAP 269L vs 269 Pro
Hi,

I'm looking at these two variants.

The Pro has lockable drives which I don't need.

CPU speed is 2.13 vs 1.86, so 15% faster.

I wouldn't have thought this would have any noticeable impact on performance.

The most noticeable aspect of NAS performance in my experience is the time from pressing Play to hearing music.

Am I missing anything?

Thank you in advance.

The scale isn't linear (15%). The drive speed will be the slowest denominator but, frankly speaking, you'd be hard pushed to time the difference.

The time from pressing play to start is going to be the buffer time plus next to nothing - hopefully.

RE: QNAP 269L vs 269 Pro
I bought my 269L a couple of weeks ago and it works like a breeze with MinimServer. I also installed the Lumin software (in addition to Kinsky & HDtracks) on my iPad and find it the most informative of the lot. I did not see the 269Pro when I went on the QNAP site, but if I did, I'd probably buy it as I tend to go for the highest spec processor whenever I buy an NAS. However, I have to say that I have no complaints with the 269L, and with MinimServer, it rescans my files of about two thousand albums in about a minute. In the past on my 259Pro+, a re-scan using Twonky took around ten minutes ! Its also very quite compared to my 459Pro+.

Another consideration is that the 269L is SATA2 and the 269Pro is SATA3.
