RE: sorry I could not resist...
Hi,

Interesting pictures, the Majik and Akurate circuit boards look similar.

I used to work in the Circuit Board industry so would have a rough idea of how much something like that would cost, the bare board I mean.

To populate would depend on the cost of the parts but I cannot see much difference between the Majik and the Akurate in parts, maybe a closer picture might reveal more.

Wonder why they cost so much? Must be what is inside that box section or the R&D I assume.

Cheers

John

RE: sorry I could not resist...
Hi John,

if you give a second look (sorry for the small size of Akurate picture!) you will find:

(1) Klimax & Akurate, their circuit boards are very similiar! all the main chips are the same. - Please compare carefully the up-left part of the main circuit board.

Looks Klimax is a "super Deluxe Akurate".

(2) Akurate & Majik, the right part of their main circuit board are very similiar. I wonder if someone has the ball to mod majik to see if it can "open" XLR out?

(3) Klimax & Akurate & Majik & Sneaky, the down-left part are all very similiar. Obviously the main circuit boards has the some "CPU" and Memory chips to do the initial caculation.

(4) Klimax - just beautiful! Very complicated design for the power part!

(5) Klimax has her own superior standard of Electrical components. For Akurate & Majik & Sneaky they use Electrical components of same standard.

In addition to above:

For Klimax+Akurate+Majik, actually the right part of their main circuit boards are very similiar.

Wonder what does the 2 little silver boxes near Klimax's XLR outs do?

RE: sorry I could not resist...
Hi,

I think that the amount of R&D that has gone into these must have a bearing on the price, because if you look at the Sneaky it is quite a complex board and yet costs less than 1/12 of what a Klimax costs and has it's own power amp.

These boards look like they will be auto populated so costs are kept down so I would be interested to see the raw cost of the board populated.

Still you pay for what you get, and they all sound so much better than a CD.

Cheers

These are Lundahl transformers.
