Website refresh and introducing Series 5
Hi Folks,

As you might have noticed we launched an update to the Linn website with the launch of our new range of Series 5 systems and speakers, together with new Exaktbox products too.

You'll see the new pages continue to roll out over the next few weeks and the updated navigation propagate to all Linn websites over the coming days.

If anyone spots any bugs please be sure to let us know — this thread is the place for it.

Jim

There's a huge bug in all the "in-home" photos. Nothing is wired up so everyone will be wondering why they've spent their hard earned dosh but can't hear any music.

Main: KDS3 / Lejonklou Sagatun Mono Tarandus / Lejonklou Tundra Mono 2 Tarandus / 242s
LG OLED 55E6V /Oppo 205 as processor / Lejonklou Tundra Stereo / Katan rears / Velodyne DD12 sub
2nd system: Oppo105 / Lejonklou Boazu / 109s

Cheers Donald. Fixed the link in my post — that's a bit embarrassing!

Where did you find that first link?

But remember, as these are Exakt speakers, there are no fat speaker cables to hide — slender Ethernet cables are much easier to conceal! Wink

It's on this page: -

http://www.linn.co.uk/music-systems/series-5#technology

When you click on Find out more > under the 520 System

The URL looks like this and as you can see the "music-systems/" part has been doubled up and it incorrectly points to the " series-5/530" as well-

http://www.linn.co.uk/music-systems/musi...ries-5/530

The URL should look like this: -

http://www.linn.co.uk/music-systems/series-5/520

The link for the 530 System works o.k.: -

http://www.linn.co.uk/music-systems/series-5/530

Go on, make my day - Cat5, 6 or 7 - what do Linn recommend for Exakt links?

Unidisk SC | Majik LP12 | Trampolin 2 | Lingo 3.
Akurate DSM | Akurate Exaktbox 10 | 2 x Akurate 4200/1 | Exakt dual-mono Keilidhs
Raspberry Pi 2 Model B | IQAudio Pi-DAC+ | Audiolab 8000A | AR28s.

Cheers Donald, good spot. That's what happens when you miss a leading slash from a relative path!

Will be sorted on the live website shortly.

RE: Website refresh and introducing Series 5
On this page, http://www.linn.co.uk/hifi-separates/speakers#compare , if you click on the 530, the pop-up box says "Speaker Type: Passive, upgradeable to fully Aktiv and Exakt." - I think this is a mistake, or is there a passive version of the 530 available?

AEDSM, Akurate Exaktbox, 2*A4200/D, C2200/D, Akubariks
Majik DS-I, Katans

Another good spot, thank you. It should read "Integrated Exakt with built-in Aktiv amplification."

No, there isn't a passive version available.

Cheers,

Jim

Ah, that's a shame; looking at the photos, I assumed that you'd designed a new radio protocol to create 'Wireless EXAKT' speakers. That said, I couldn't spot a parabolic dish atop the new speakers (though being a radio enthusiast, I'd have quite liked that feature). Maybe you could coat the bass units in conductive material (to enable them to work as dish reflectors) and fit the antenna (the launcher) just in front of them; it could be cunningly concealed at the peak of an extended 'dust cap' on the bass unit? If you did that, the 'Radio EXAKT DSM' could be sited on the other side of the room (with the bass unit 'dishes' pointing directly at it); now there's a fun idea for an innovative new product! Big Grin

KDS/1 (music) + ADSM (AV) -> KK/1 -> 350A + miniDSP time & phase aligned 345 rear sub
KDS Renew -> Homebrew fixed attenuator -> 2250/D -> 212 and Sizmik front sub (bedroom)
MDSI -> 104C (awaiting installation in my kitchen)
MDSI -> Shahinian Arc (installed at my mum's house)
