RE: New Dynamik Power Supply
ThomasOK Wrote:Linn have just announced the new Dynamik power supply which upgrades the performance of most of their electronics. The Dynamik is said to "optimise audio performance and reduce noise levels further" giving results which "are simply spectacular" allowing you to hear more of the music. It is also claimed that it "redefines Linn performance beyond all expectation". I take it from this they don't expect it to be thought of as a subtle upgrade! nice one thomasok, terrific timing on your part as im just about to order a new system, i shall be sure to order the updated versions. thanks for the post, sweet. |

RE: New Dynamik Power Supply
Hi All,
My dealer just offered me an AkurateDS from his demo stock at a significant reduction because of the new DynPS release. Even better - apparently Linn are giving dealers a spare Dynamic upgrade kit for any new equipment they order in July to allow them to upgrade their existing demo stock. So I get a big price reduction and latest spec equipment! Not bad eh! I would get down to your local dealer and twist some arms if you need new kit - and dont forget that not long ago there was a big price hike by Linn so it is likely that dealers got their demo stock at the pre-increase price so mention this when you are bartering! springwood64 Wrote:I see that there are no pre-amps on the list other than the Exotik - any indications of upgrades for Linto, AK, MK, Kinos or Kisto? My mistake, I forgot to list the Akurate Kontrol which is also available from July 6th. I have edited my original post to add it. No mention so far of upgrades for Kinos or Kisto. The Majik Kontrol and Majik CD use a lesser power supply than the other products and apparently will not be upgraded. No word on the Linto either - I don't know if Linn just don't want to start doing upgrades for the LK boxes or if there is some other reason. RE: New Dynamik Power Supply
Am I the only one who likes to wait awhile when something new is introduced while they work the bugs out?
When BMW introduced the new 335 a few years ago with the first turbo engine they'd ever put in a normal production vehicle, everyone wanted one yesterday. Those who paid a premium and got one of the early ones had to bring them back later to have oil coolers installed, since the engines ran far hotter than anticipated. Even worse, the fuel pumps on just about all of them failed after 5k miles. There was a masssive production backlog of 8 weeks or longer for the new fuel pumps in many cases, leaving lots of people making steep car payments for things they couldn't drive. When I bought my very early Unidisk, I almost got banned from my local CD store for the amount of returns I was attempting because the thing wouldn't read every third disc I purchased. This was fixed with the first firmware update. I'm not suggesting that BMW or Linn have poor quality control, I think their QC is incredible, and they make incredible products. But these days companies work out the bugs in a new product AFTER it's release, and use consumers and their complaints and warranty returns the way they used to use extensive pre-release product testing back in the day. That's just the way it is. So while early purchasers get bragging rights, they usually pay for it. I think I'll wait awhile for the new-fangled Dynamik power supply, especially since they left my practically brand new (8 year old) Klout off the list of products to be upgraded! No upgrades for the Kinos or Kisto per my Linn rep. At least at this time.

From what I've heard it will be factory configurable for different cartidges, however since I haven't heard anything more concrete the rest is speculation. Let's speculate!!

RE: New Dynamik Power Supply
If it just not happened to be that I this afternoon had a talk with my dealer(Scala Hifi) I would still be very not so sure about this one............
But must be a new line of politics within Linn to only inform a few dealers...ThomasOK and HouseofLinn, obviously and have those few do the info....that just looks a bit weird in my world...why the h**l, excuse my language don't they just inform us all about this upgrade on the newly revamped News page...? Instead of having us all perplecs and running foolishly around trying to get on par with the latest news? Himself...
