RE: Komri - still alive !!!
Thank you so much for your ideas.

Of Course I want to share my first impressions with you: For the first session we unpacked the new pair of Solos and did all the combinations of amping.

Having one Solo on the UpperBass and the second pair on the "3K" silver Panel was a big improvement coming from one pair of Solos. But we were hungry for more experience.

So we amped them 2 by 2. This is the way that you can see in the Owners Manual and how you report about the setup they did at your house. I found it even better, giving me more balanced improvement of the "double power" of the two pairs.

The combination of one pair only working for the small Supertweeter and the other pair on the "rest" gave me the most of voice and language - clear and sound. I am afraid this is my hunger for "active feeling of transparency". But this time I have a still the groove with me. ;-)))

I know this is a very first Impression. So exciting to have a new Setup and having a real improvement for the invest.... And I know there will be improvement just by burning the Solos for some weeks - so I have to hear at a very loud Level ;-)

I think in a few weeks I will have to listen again the combinations and decide again what is best from a more experienced point of view....

Does anyone have experience on the way you daisy-chain?

All the BEST from Hamburg

RE: Komri - still alive !!!
My first impression was that the 2+2 Setup was the best. But after a while (and burning in) I recognized that 3+1 is more my cup of tea. So I strongly recommend to test it again after some weeks.

Daisy chain: at the end and after several changes I come to the following setup:

Klimax Kontrol --> Solo (3K) --> Solo(Upper bass)

But at the end of the day it's up to you - and it's quite easy to change the setup.

RE: Komri - still alive !!!
Hi Sami!

yes I can follow your idea to be active. But last time I had a "making me happy active-Setup" was the Karik-Numerik-3xLK100-Kaber. Since then I went all the active way down ... 242 and 350 up to latest spec 350As as I told. But I never had that "Feeling" again.

Now with Komris and Solos/1 I am back to happyness. I am not quite sure, if that is the Chakra-technology. I also heard some Twin-setups.... sorry but I did not find what I had with non-Chakra LK100s and now with Solos.

I'll go active at the day I have -by accident ;-) - 8 Solos. But never give up Solos again - especially Solo/1.

Maybe better poweramping is first step, then biamping second and going active is third? - Sorry Linn but at the moment this is my finding... Your Solos are far toooo good....;-)

Cheers from Komri-heaven!

Ben

What is a RME DS?

I am so seriously jealous of you lot with your Komris. Even more annoying is that I think Hamburg 1 might even be a customer of ours.

My only positive is that our lounge is too small for such a large speaker. Not because it will sound bad - it doesn't as we have tried them for a blissful period but because if we got up from the sofa too fast or carelessly we would head butt them as they were so close - like big headphones almost!!!

As I said to Brian and Trevor when they let me hear the Focal Grand Utopia EM on the back of four Solos are few years ago - "the speakers are cheap, it is the larger house for them to fit in that is the big money".

CJ

It's a Dual-PC Streaming Solution based on JPlay and a RME 192 kHz Card. Very nice.

RE: Komri - still alive !!!
Hi Ri... CJ

yes we know each other. You sold the first pair of Solos/d to me! This was together with the Komris my stairway to heaven.

Now I was lucky and got a pair of brandnew Solos offered. I had to take them.... There are a lot of things to test and try - thank all the good ideas I got in this thread !!!

I will Keep you updated!

Coming to your main problem: The size of the room should give you the chance to get out of the Sofa without getting injured! But maybe you should check for the building physics in your house for the listening-room and the room behind it. By chance you can remove the wall and enlarge your Linn-room. Or you can add some space in the front. As I say you always need something to examine and change and improve...

Cheers No

RE: Komri - still alive !!!
I am still testing. But having one Solo on Neutriks and one on Bananas. So it is not so easy to switch...

While doing the burn-work on loud Music Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin I am Surfing for more Information. And of course I also ended up with the 2,48 Meter Thread on L-Forum. I cut my K400 for quadwiring on 2,0 Meters. So now I think I will have some new ones on 2,48 - right? Any experience YOU had on that Point?

Cheers from Komri-heaven
