RE: Komri - still alive !!!
Having heard the improvement of screws 242 I read the threads with interest. It seems to be a big "upgrade" to optimize the screws.

For Komri there are the "official" figures from Linn: Factory settings for the Komri are indeed around 2.1 Nm for the 3K, 3.0 Nm for the upper bass and 3,7 Nm for the two lower basses ....

But for the 3K of 242 there is a big discussion on several "good Peaks" and the best would be at around 0,8 Nm. Are there any experience on Komri 3K? Any suggestions or experience on the upper bass and the lower basses?

Thank you for shareing - I will get the Nm-screwers for the Weekend and need some more advice Big Grin

Hi all,

factory settings are way to high in my opinion and finding better settings brings a very worthwhile improvement. I extensively tested the torque settings on my K350Ps in 2010 settling at 3k-0.95 Nm
Midbass 1.05 Nm, Lowbass 1.1 Nm. Have not yet tested a lot of different settings on Komris but started with my K350 when first setting them up. This brought some improvement compared to the much higher settings they came with.
Also check out k_numigl "visual indicator" in his post on 242s here: http://forums.linn.co.uk/bb/showthread.p...915&page=6

RE: Komri - still alive !!!
as mentioned in my previous thread I have exakted Komris with 4 dynamiked twins

I slowly upgraded a while ago from 4200. The sound was never right until I had 4 twins. I presume that the amps has different response times.

the question is: has any one had any experience with slowly replacing twins with solos?
does the mixture of twins and solos sound right or will it only be OK when I have 8 solos which is not an option at the moment??

Yes, I started with 2 Solos and 3 Twins gradually replacing the Twins with Solos(and upgrading the existing amps to Dynamik PS). During that time I experimented with the allocation of the Solos until I reached a point where all the Twins were replaced. There's no problem mixing Solos and Twins and you can happily drive yourself nuts trying the different permutations of power allocation.

Sadly, there is no substitute in the Linn hierarchy for Solos. They make a huge difference to the grip and authority with which the Komris' drivers are powered(they are megalomanic in this respect) and whilst the Twins provide adequate power, there is no denying the Solos are something else. Even the final pair powering the supertweeters made an immediate and obvious improvement.

RE: Komri - still alive !!!
Hi out there - just a Little Report on our findings this night.

Just got the new click-screwdrivers (one from 0,4-2 Nm and one from 1-5 Nm - you never know what you need ;-))

So we started with the 3K (Setup see in the signature) and ended up with 1,8 Nm. For the upper bass we ended up with 1,6 Nm. The lower bass will be checked the next days - because there is some work to get to the screws and I will have to work a bit tomorrow...

We found the screwing to have a big impact on groove and musicality and tune-dem... But as usual it is very subjective!!!

For the technical way we always set the screws free with a normal screwdriver and then we took the new Setup on the scale of the Click-Screwdriver and fixed the Nm from a "moving" screw.

If you do this - the effect is like moving the Speakers in the room until you have the right Position for perfect TuneDem. So have fun and enjoy, it is less physical work than to move the Speakers...;-) ... And it is worth to do because you are really able to improve your TuneDem.

All The Best!

I have sold a fair few Komri's with Twin's (I actually own them) But going from Twin's to Solo's is a massive upgrade. Especially now that they are Dynamiked. I have a couple of customers with Exakted Solo'd Komri's and all I can say is wow.

You can mix Solo's with Twin's no problem. I think it sounds best with Solo's on the tweeter and mid but others people can sometimes prefer other combinations.

For me it's only a jump from one Kloud to another Kloud - both in Komri heaven.
