Akurate 212 Upgrade
Hi all,
I just wanted to share my enthusiasm for my latest upgrade: Trikans aktiv (on one 4200) --> new Akurate 212's aktiv (on two 4200s). I had done many dems of 212's, 242s, 109's and 140's, both aktive and passive, and finally opted for aktive 212's (the latest version). Being a Source First believer, I actually didn't expect too much of this upgrade. I was proven wrong! Even after just two weeks of running-in, the improvement (in both sound and musicality) is MASSIVE! Music is much easier to follow and understand, many musical details which were hidden by the Trikans have now been revealed. The improvement in sound is even bigger: It feels like the music has finally been unleashed. Instruments and voices sound much more natural and three-dimensional. The separation of instruments is much better. The resolution of treble frequencies is outstanding. Linn have really done a great job with these speakers! I still believe in Source First, but the fact is that if you have great electronics on relatively simple speakers, you miss out a LOT! Cheers, Matthias LP12 (Klimax Radikal, Keel, Ekos SE, Akiva, Urika) - OPPO 105 - KK/1/D - Akurate 226 - KCT/D - Akurate 212 Keith Monks RCM II |

RE: Akurate 212 Upgrade
As an owner of a not dissimilar system to your own pre-212 one, this is good news indeed. Mind you, without a serious cash injection, I'm unlikely to reap the same rewards for a long time.
