Many of my friends would be happy to buy Linn DST.
Especially if it will have high-quality digital outputs like the Akurate.

Why do not Linn DS only as a transport?

Huh? Into a seperate dac? Kind of defeating the purpose. I DO however see the argument for digital inputs on a DS and not have it be either a preamp ala AKDSM or an all in one ala DSM. An all in one digital switch or control center that would then go into a high quality preamp.

What would you feed this imaginary device into? Another manufacturers dac?

It's better to keep signal inside the DS. Any digital interface will make it vulnerable to jitter issues and external distortion. Linn is using Ethernet, not SPDIF for a reason.
