Power to power and switch on

Er, my memory is a bit rusty here, so probably need a dealer with access to Linfo to advise, but don’t you have to remove the power supply from the LK280 and not just connect the Spark to it?

‘troll
Yes , it is a lk280/Spark combo.

I thought you already had the LK280. Do you mean you have bought an LK280 with a Spark?

Correct, now have 2xLK280 and a LK280 with Spark ( which has the issue )

OK, you’re going to have to tell us more about the problem. Add photos of how it’s all connected if you can.

Simply saying there are blue sparks isn’t going to get you much help, other than to return to seller, or take to electronics engineer.

Did the sparks come from the wall sockets, or the cables between Spark and 280. If wall sockets, the Spark uses two mains cables, yes? Were there sparks from both or just one?

My thoughts are that it could be any of the following:

Faulty mains cable(s)
Something has come loose inside the Spark during transit
Something has come loose inside the LK280 during transit
One of the Spark’s transformers has failed

RE: Lin Spark,,,,,,what to expect
The turn on surge of a Spark is high enough that if the switch was on while you plugged the powercord into the wall socket you could get blue sparks. It's a possibility that's how it got it's name? Smile

Blue sparks anywhere else however would be bad news.

So the sparks from the inputs on the LK280 are OK ?

RE: Lin Spark,,,,,,what to expect
Does the Spark/280 combination work? If so, it could simply be a fully drained Spark drawing 'huge' current from the mains. Probably best not to switch it on and off if this is the case.

Been checking it out , sparks stopped. Seems left channel has blown, now to find someone to fix.

If you unplug the thing for a few hours it may reset the internal protection and work again.

LP12 + Cirkus + Tranquility + Lingo 2 + Ittok LVII + Troika + Linto • Acer Aspire One + Uptone ReGen + TeraDak U9 PS + Audiophilleo2 with PurePower + Numerik • Kremlin • Kairn 3 • Linn Blacks + Mogami 3173 • Slimline Aktiv Tunebox • 3x LK280 + 2x Spark • K600 • Aktiv Kabers + 038/2 tweeters.

...or the channels might have separate fuses?

RE: Lin Spark,,,,,,what to expect
Each spark has two fuses on the back, next to the power inputs. The covers pinch and slide off and the fuses are simple to replace. Just as well as they do blow under heavy load (and I have 6 of them!!)
