That’s wrong. Via Konfig the MDSM’s „pre out“ sockets (default setting) can be configured as „pre in“. If using this setting the MSDM accepts and amplifies the output signals coming from any Exaxtbox with cinch connectors.

Really? So you can have the MDSM Exakt link out to an Exaktbox, and then the Exaktbox RCA outs back into the MDSM for amplification?
That sounds really really weird.

Yes, that's exactly what I've done for some time while upgrading to my current system. Two channels were driven by an MEB-I, four channels by an A4200 and the last two channels by an MDSM.

RE: Where to start with a streaming system
That's a new one to me, sounds like a hidden treasure!

Great if that works - it would actually mean that with MDSM/2 + Majik-I Exaktbox one would have a total of 10 channels at disposal and drive for instance a pair of 242s with just that combination...

Well done Linn for adding that flexibility

I don't think so as you would only have 8 Exakt channels. But maybe I'm wrong. That happened before.

Not sure either as that almost sounds too good to be true - and then rarely is ... Rolleyes

So let's wait for someone with either the equipment or knowledge to chime in

An Akurate Exakt DSM, Majik Exaktbox-i and a pair of passive Akudoriks are only a bit over budget. Going for second hand Akurate 212s could come in under budget.

I am sure the guys on here will come up with other alternatives...

Phil.

I googled Tin's suggestion and got a price of £19,000 hence my comment. I know see that there are several different speakers at vastly different price points with the same nene. It would really help those of us new to the range if Linn would give different products clearly defined names....

I am afraid that the 19k suggestion was what I meant. I remembered a much lower price, and a different €/£ conversion rate.
