A wee trip to the Linn website today and you might have noticed that we have updated our blogs page.

Our latest offering? Space Optimisation vs mic-based room correction solutions:

And before you ask, no it wasn't written by Paulsurround! Tongue

We plan on bringing out more great content over the next few months, so stay tuned...

Cheers,

Whether or not Paul wrote it, is Gilad really the author? Or is the answer to that question a state secret? Smile

RE: New Space Optimisation Blog - Why We Dropped The Mic.
First paragraph of the last section "Everyone's an expert"

"No specialist knowledge is required to use Space Optimisation. You don’t need to know the acoustic properties of brick and plaster walls, or the effect of a sprung floor, suspended ceiling or bay window. You just need to tell the tool that they’re there, and it automatically makes the necessary adjustments to the model and to your hi-fi system."

Bay window? Really? Since when?

Have I missed a new feature in Konfig?

RE: New Space Optimisation Blog - Why We Dropped The Mic.
In practical world, space adjustment is never that easy. Has to spend a lot of time. Even to spot out the optimum location with tunedem method is not easy. Space has the potential, it can be set very right, or it can be set very wrong, either make or break your system. But mic is much easier to use and provide a not so right but not so wrong, good starting point. IMHO.

RE: New Space Optimisation Blog - Why We Dropped The Mic.
I had mixed feelings after reading the blog.
Sure, using a mic has its dificulties but when you have a non-empty non-square room SO isn't without faults either.
My microphone assisted setup was better than the generic one coming out of SO.
Paulssurrounds findingd are even better, moving most modes to places SO, or the mic, hadn't thought of.
SO as a tool is fantastic, best thing ever. I actually mean that. But it is not enter-dimensions-and-hooray like the blog suggests.

SO seriously needs to be able to handle non-square rooms out of the box and at least 4 profiles for adaptations depending on the amount of furniture.
-Empty
-Modern/Industrial
-Normal
-Stuffed cottage

My 2 cents.

My 2 cents.

Features like bay windows, both bow and box, and chimney breasts would make a lot of sense.
