RE: Munich High End Show. May 2017
PMC have launched a 5k gbp integrated amp. Which is wierd given their association with Bryston and very recent hook up with AVM. It has slider tone controls for that retro feel. They say its special because it is analogue throughout. Not sure why that makes it different to all those other analogue amps out there.

On first few listens, Kudos seem to have done another great job on the T-606. The Titan tweeter is so much less agressive than the one used in S10 and S20.

Native Bavarian would be a 'Mass Bier' (1 Liter), 'Weißwürste' (Bavarian veal Sausage) with 'Süßem Senf' (Sweet Mustard) and a 'Brezn' (Prezel). What you are showing in your picture is somehow a Bavarian/Belgian mixed dish. Wink

Enjoy your time in Munich. Maybe I will visit the High End tomorrow or on the weekend. The weather might guide my decision. If it remains as it is I rather go biking.

The first day of pictures are now up.

Words will have to come later. A combination of US jet lag, 2x pre-5am starts and a lot of walking today mean no time nor appetite for words. A summary would be: some good stuff, some rubbish stuff, some mediocre stuff, but that's not really insightful is it?

Today I managed to cover 1.5 floors of rooms selected from browsing the catalogue. That's roughly equivalent to 1 whole floor. There are 3 floors. Time is not on my side. And that's without browsing the 3 halls of static exhibits!

Very comprehensively photographed Smile Got to say though that there's very little in that lot which I'd have in my house regardless of how it might sound. I think Linn are light years ahead on aesthetics - and their designs are several years old too now!

I had 2 nights at home in between, which isn't enough recovery time to be getting up at 3.30am to fly to Frankfurt

Right - I am second day back from NYC and so have some sympathy for exactly how your brain feels ...... right now it feels like someone has rammed a steel tube through mine and then padded out the rest of the head with cotton wool. Trying a cocktail of gentle browsing and tunes. Did I mention cocktail..... Marguerita, straight up, no salt. No wonder my head feels fuzzy after last week .... Smile

RE: Munich High End Show. May 2017
A couple of learnings from Munich so far:

- there's lot of systems that 'need' room treatment
- although 2 of the best systems had no to minimal room treatment
- SPACE would make a killing, its very strange for Linn not to be there. When small brit companies like Graham, Harbeth and Kudos can afford to be there, Linn is a major omission
- The European industry, at this level, is both extensive and diverse
- UK shows are distinctly low key in comparison
- best to be there on press day Smile
- ukandrewf and I have learned something about listening to new systems. Yes, its good to hear something familiar or of an already enjoyed genre to quickly get to grips with a system. However, if you walk into a room and the music is of a genre you don't normally enjoy and it still drags you into the music, its pretty much certain that it will sound good with your favourite music too
- not a revelation, but a confirmation, that price and chosen technology is very much unrelated to a musical result.
- Linn is distinctly at the more sensible end of the price range in this company!
