RE: Opinions on Kan MK1
So... I am fully committed now! Just picked up a lovely pair of MK1 with mint KANII stands. I didn't remember how physically small they are. Now the fun begins.

They do need a powerful amp to sound their best, and as said before a solid wall.
Sitting on the Kan stands is the best way, get the stands as close to the wall as you can.

I dislike marmite but luv my kan’s

I did get the Kan MK1 complete with Mk2 stands in very nice condition and looking forward to listening to them! You, and others, suggest they sound best with some serious power behind them, would you suggest one of the LK Amps or something newer? I currently have a Majik Integrated driving them.

Thanks
Alan

Nothing sounds better with mk1 Kans than a Naim Amp. Even the humble Naim Naim makes them sound magnicent with both tune dem and PRaT in spades.

Put an LP12 in front and you're in a Flat Earth heaven.

Something like a Naim Nait 1 freshly recapped? Would that be a forward step or a lateral step or backwards step? I do not know Naim product very well.

Thanks

Majik is fine, but if you want to spend cash then you will find the LK’s that little better. Wakonda/LK 100 is my choice.

Main system, Lp12 tranquility , trampoline 2 , Cirkus bearing and sub chassis, lingo 3, Black Ittok LV11, Kairn Pro, Linto, LK280/Spark x2, Kudos. Kan11’s, silvers.

Lounge, Sneaky DS, kan’s

Kitchen, Kinekt room amp, sweetspot speakers. Streamed via Tidal.

How does the LK85 compare in the scheme of things?

Thanks

Fits in OK, this is my opinion though, most important is the positioning of the kans, against a solid wall, and at least 1/2 a metre away from a corner.

Absolutely. I have both a Naim and Malik DSM in my dining room powering my Kans. I only use the Majik for streaming into the Nait as the Nait is simply more musical and dynamic. With different speakers it might be a different story but with Kans it's not.

The ideal set up would be. Naim 32 or 42 Preamp into a Naim Nap 110 or better yet a 140, or even better is a 160. All the power amps above can power the pre amps.

That Sir, would be a huge step forward, the Nait 1 and 2 for that matter are stunning amps regardless of their size and on paper low output.

Or, something like a Chrome Bumper 32.5 powered straight off a 110 would put a silly grin on your face!

Regards,

Mark

There happens to be a Chrome Bumper 32.5 for sale near me now. $600CDN and it is apparently in mint condition... Is that a good price? Is it a good piece of gear compared to current stuff like the Nait 5?

Thanks
Alan
