Not selling
Recently a couple of Krds/0 on eBay selling below 2k seems a bargain. But now on pinkfish 1800 and not selling. What's going on these are amazingly good streamers?

KRDS, Kk1/not D, Solos/not D, LP12, Ittok, 242 mk1

RE: Not selling
I think there are a couple of reasons:
- The renews are a dead end and the renew/0s are an old dead end.
- People always claim that Klimax is better than Akurate partly because of the casing, but the renews don't have those.
- The KRDS/0 probably won't even have a Dynamik powersupply, making them hardly amazing but rather middle of the road.
- DSMs seem to sell much better second hands than DSs.

We're 10 years further, a new MDSM is probably around the same level as a KRDS/0-without-dynamik, yet much more versatile.

PS noticing you don't have Dynamiks, you'll be amazed how big the performance increase would be.

they DO have dynamik power supply. In my opinion are far more musical than akurate and I've had both

RE: Not selling
I am not sure but I am very happy it's the case as it makes excellent streamers available at reasonable prices.

Not been convinced about the dead end argument. If I buy a Renew/0 then I buy a Renew/2 I have two DS Klimax players for £6-7K at then-current prices. A lot cheaper than a real KDS. Never latest spec but once you are a bit behind, it doesn't worry. And you can sell the older one for
£1800.

I suspect that there is an initial purchase from people like me leaving them as an unknown oddity thereafter.

I think you are right Tin, the DSMs are more obviously appealing (not a problem for me as I only have the streamer as a source).

I have a Renew KDS/0 and it is hugely better than the MDS it replaced (both Dynamiked).

I'm waiting for the next KDS upgrade and then upgrading to Renew/3. But I suspect that is a way off!

Out of curiosity, which both did you have? KDS0 or KRDS/0? And compared to which Akurate?
But with the Dynamik powersupply I agree that the proposition is a lot better. But still, a DS is no DSM.
Also I think that people who buy 10 year old equipment are much more careful with their money. And value is always a supply/demand thing.

RE: Not selling
Every Renew has a brand new Dynamik power supply when it is made so they can even sound better than the Klimax cased version which might not have been Dynamiked in the case of a /0.

As you can get a Klimax Renew /3 (technically a /E) then it is not suprising the /0 prices fall. When the Renew/0 was first available they were approx £5000 on the second hand market (quite a lot of variability) and the price has dropped fairly steadily since but has now been pretty steady at about £2000 or just less since the beginning of 2016.

ebay will always achieve better sale prices than Pinkfish

RE: Not selling
I've ran a Dynamik MDSI followed by a Dynamik Akurate DSM 2014 vintage then followed KRDS/0 Dynamik.

IMHO the KRDS/0 is muscally better by a good margin. Then again I knew it was a dead end but my main interest is the LP12 so I was good with that. The later revisions of KDS/M will be better due to development and ultra low jitter clocks etc but there is always going to be the next greatest thing that demands our attention and funds.

Personally speaking the latest and greatest is not mandatory for a truly musical experience. You can still have a great system without spending big big bucks.

To me Linn products complement on another so are good to partner.

Others rightly choose a mix of products for their system to suit their tastes and all is good with that too IMHO

Klimax LP12 (Cirkus, Tranquility, Radikal D, Keel, Urika, Khan top plate, Ekos SE, Kandid). Klimax Renew DS. KK D, Solos D. 242 mk 2 with upgraded stands. Project RCM

Ah, that explains why the original Renews were so praised and the later ones get, relatively, less enthousiast responses. What do you mean with /E?

RE: Not selling
The very latest Klimax Renew DS is not called the /3 by Linn it is called the /E. So the Renew versions are /0 /1 /2 /E of the Klimax DS.
