Windows 10 Creators Update - prevents charging when on?
I have heard that the Windows 10 Creators Edition is preventing some tablets from charging their battery when it's powered on. Does anyone use a tablet and have this update? And if so, any issues with this (or any others for that matter)?

RE: Windows 10 Creators Update - prevents charging when on?
I do know that on some devices, Windows can control such things as it was reported that on one laptop (I think it might have been a reasonably posh Lenovo one) a message popped up stating something along the lines of 'We see your laptop is continuously plugged into the mains, would you like Windows to take the battery down to 50% charge and leave it at that level to increase its longevity?' which is actually very cool, as that is the sort of level to optimally store lithium batteries at. I have never seen that message on my antique HP laptop, so I guess the OS cannot access the charging circuitry, so based on all of the above, if there is an issue about Windows preventing charging when the tablet is plugged in, I would guess it only impacts on some models (i.e. ones where the OS does have a hook into the charging activity)?

I suspect a Google of your model and the words 'Windows 10 Creators Update prevents charging' might find the answer about your specific tablet.

Of course, the expectation is that the next version - the so-called Fall Edition - will be released on the 17th of October, so likely there will be subtle behavioural changes when that appears (and likely my antique laptop - assuming it even works with the Fall edition - will carry on ignoring most of them). Incidentally, I believe that the best way to long-term store an unused lithium battery is to charge it (or flatten it) to about 40% charge, then stick it in a sealed bag with some silica gel and pop it into the fridge (that is where my laptop battery currently resides).

KDS Renew -> Homebrew fixed attenuator -> 2250/D -> 212 and Sizmik front sub (bedroom)
MDSI -> 104C (awaiting installation in my kitchen)
MDSI -> Shahinian Arc (installed at my mum's house)

Thanks Bri. Funnily enough, I was looking on the Linx forum on another matter and that's where I'd heard the rumour originally. And this last week Windows update has told me it is going to update to Creator's soon. (No idea why it says that rather than just doing it. Seems it will happen some time not in my ken or under my control).

So it may be dependent on my model as you say. Guess I'll have to wait and see (or if stellakelly can confirm/deny it for theirs).

I run Creator's on a 12inch Linx tablet with no charging issues. Normally charges in Sleep mode though so don't know if that makes a difference.

Thanks CJ. Allays my fears somewhat (although mine is the 1010) Smile
I have also heard Creator's is better for battery life too. Have you noticed?
