SO speaker test
Bit confused (as usual)
Setting up SO earlier, in the test speaker section, went to test right speaker , both played , as did when tried the left. All cables OK.
Any ideas

I need Paulssurround

Assuming this is your Sneaky setup, I think the only area that could do that is speaker connections.

I have also noticed that sometimes the test signal for the left or right speaker shows up in the wrong channel. I have seen this in my system and in other people's Linn system, so it is not unusual.

Strangely, playing the test signal wipes out my playlist, after it finishes playing.

As long as it is playing your music, it should all be fine.

I recently visited one of the Linn members, who had been living for many years with the left and right channel interconnects reversed, and did not notice it until I played one of my reference tunes, and Ray Brown was playing bass in the left channel.

Hmmm

RE: SO speaker test
Hi folks,

Just to register my issue, too, I also hear sound from both speakers when I run the Space Optimisation test on each speaker i.e. test the left speaker and I hear audio from both speakers. The same is true when I test the right speaker.

Can Linn provide any help here?

Thank you,

System: Majik DSM, Majik Amplifier, Sonus Faber Toy speakers.

RE: SO speaker test
After reporting this issue to Linn, below is the response received by email (received circa 8th Dec 2017):

"Our engineers are aware of the issue that you are reporting and have it logged to investigate."

So, it seems that Linn's engineers were already aware of the issue, but it took a customer to report it before they'd take any action to investigate it.

That's a comfort.

Any thoughts about Area 51 and JFK as well?

The engineers aren't free to just start fixing anything they come across, which is why they logged it. As Linn, and the engineers, have limited resources they have to make choices between new features, important issues and smaller issues and out of that a timeline will emerge.
Stressing issues and new products will always be at the front, and smaller issues will always stay behind. Some well known issues will never be fixed unless the engineers have to work on that specific function anyway and see a way to kill multiple birds with a single stone.

Customer reportings can have an effect on rescheduling, so it is important that you did as the issue is bothering multiple people. It is also important not to get carried away and finding a conspiracy behind every stone. Tin foil heads should be used for acoustic purposes only.

Tin can telephone system.

"Conspiracy"?

That unique brand of gibberish is best placed where it mght at the very least be intelligible, adds something of value and resonates with some semblance of meaning beyond your own empty nutshell (if such places exist).

In such a vast expanse there must be a great call for commentators blind to the irony of someone called Tin who uses the tagline 'Be delusional!', finds conspiratorial thread in every dialogue and uses the metaphor of tin foil heads in virtually every post.

^ uncalled for.

It might be wise to hang around for a bit to get used to personalities before diving in.

We tend to place nice around here and attack the topic, not the individual.
