Aktive 140x2 vs klout x1
Hello guys and girls
I'm now running ikemi kairn pro klout passive controlling the treble and 2xlk140's aktive doing the mid and bass though my old keilidhs
Any thoughts on an aktive or passive klout taking over from the two 140's?
Loving the sound but got a tax rebate to spendĀ£1000?
Any ideas, you've all been a great help over the last year
Ross

RE: Aktive 140x2 vs klout x1
Buy a second Klout and a set of Aktiv cards and drive the keilidhs bi-Aktiv.
If you sold the two LK140s you might even have enough to get a third Klout to run them tri-Aktiv.

EDIT: Reading your post again, are you saying you are running the Keilidhs "part aktiv?", in other words the mid/bass part of the crossover has been converted but the treble has not?
I'm surprised this doesn't sound anything less than awful.

RE: Aktive 140x2 vs klout x1
Hello wilseus
I ran tri aktive with the lk140 and although on some recordings the set up sounded fantastic on others the treble was a little bit to harsh.Beleave me I tried everything.Speaker position interconnections different treble active cards. At the very beginning I had mimik majik I lk140 and lk85 aktive.same problem, harsh treble.Brought the kairn same problem although slightly better.switched back to passive
Brought the second lk140 and swapped it with the lk85.same again.brought the ikemi(brilliant)same problem between aktive and passive.third lk140,same again.switched the treble lk140 to passive with bass/mid aktive great?.
It's either my room or ears!
Klout is great.Way more detail
No harshness.
Just got some money to spare and thinking an aktive klout bass/mid going to be a next step

Have you upgraded the tweeters to the 038 "Ninka" unit? It's a massive improvement and cures much of the harshness and "shut in" sound that the Keilidh is often criticised for.

I can't answer that as I have never owned either amp, but I'd bet good money that bi-aktiv with klouts would beat tri-aktiv with LK140s hands down.

What I do know with certainty is that changing my pre amp for a much more expensive one solved a lot of the problems I had with treble harshness.
