That doesn't explain the GBP price not changing for over a year.

RE: Linn Majik DSM/3 price
Linn set the EUR price and publish the price list. Almost certainly the price drop is down to the new Uniti range. Exchange rate irrelevant.

Yep Naim making a splash is what I thought too. Also 4K always was a bit high for an „entry level“ system, they should make it 2990.– imho. Add a package offer with 140s for 5k and it‘ll be a very competitive in today’s market.

RE: Linn Majik DSM/3 price
Shameful I think, ask me really why I bought the Majik for 4000 Euros.

Then why no equivalent drop in the UK?

Yes, why there not?

RE: Linn Majik DSM/3 price
Not yet..
Or perhaps it shows how Linn is rated vs Naim in the rest of Europe (-UK).

I think competition is getting harder and with multiple streamers at home becoming more common, it is more risky than ever to price too high especially on entry level range.
I think this also has contributed a lot to the switch to talking a lot about technology and the introduction of Exakt instead of "open" texhnology.
When brand loyalty is reducing, the (potential) "lock-in" features becomes more tempting.

This is hardly a new issue. In some ways (the possibility to use non-Linn amplifiers with Exaktboxes, for example), Exakt is less of a lock-in than its Aktiv predecessor. From Linn's perspective, the issue is probably more about system coherence than lock-in. The integrated Exakt speakers - the products which, it can be argued, have the most lock-in - are also those that have the lowest box count and are the least domestically disruptive.

RE: Linn Majik DSM/3 price
Well each to their own of course. The list of non-Linn exakt speakers is not very long though there are a few.
(But a massive shift the last years from when treble and bass knobs were banned as the contents on the record was as it was meant by the band/producer and should be preserverad by any means to bass shelves and in general much more focus on technical details).

But good if (hopefully) this is the start of a shift from price increases to more competitive pricing. But somehow I doubt it, except for the entry level range perhaps.
The upside is that the used market is very attractive today, so I am happy anyway.
