Video DS - Best Codec
Prior to purchasing a Linn DS player experimented with the concept by using Squeezebox players. I was able to try out various codecs and Flac seemed to be the highest quality and most practical option. I am now getting interested in trying to do the same thing with video. I am waiting with bated breath to see whether Linn decide to bring out a video DS player but in the meantime was conidering trying out the concept with the Popcorn Hour C-200. Anyone have any views on the most practical / highest quality codec to use? Or any views on the C-200 for that matter. Anyone from Linn care to comment on the possibility of a video DS player in the nearish future?

RE: Video DS - Best Codec
A meantime solution you might want to consider is trying a nettop box: the Asrock ION330 pro. It's cheap, small and it has been proved to work OOTB with XBMC. It has Ethernet and wireless N, dual core atom, 2GB ram and there is even a model with blu-ray disc drive. It will play any media you store on a NAS. You can use XBMC live on a usb-stick to boot from. It will use GPU hardware acceleration. It as optical out for DTS/DD "undisturbed" passtrough to your linn equipment. XBMC also has a good developer community. The live version is built upon a very slim Ubuntu mid OS and is hidden away for normal usage. The whole point is cheap + plug and play + endless support + future proof + doesn't have limitations of media players like popcorn etc.
