Many thanks everyone for your advice - much appreciated.

I live in Singapore which has hot ambient temperatures, so the NAS fans could be running full time and I'll look at setting it up in another room.

The Klimax DS is expected to arrive this week, so I'll be scaling the first slopes of my learning curve soon. I have to investigate local suppliers, but at the moment I'm favouring the QNAP as the NAS and Nokia as GUI.
