KDT Mac Experimental
Hi Gents

Having just installed the latest nightly build (2.4.2010) of KDT Experimental on my MacPro I though I would open a thread to report issues...

KDT for the Mac now has the new Source and Room Dialogs. These open, but cannot be closed as they lack the traffic lights at the top left corner. They also do not respond to cmd-w (nor does the main KDT frame).

My NAS is immediately discovered, but neither a source or device are (previous versions did discover my DS). KDT did briefly discover Spoon's Renaissance UPnP renderer, before crashing. Konfig on the same mac does find the DS.

Grüsse

Chris

RE: KDT Mac Experimental
Great that someone have the nerve to still use it...!

Will gladly report a strong wish for a different...! and not so nervewrecking volumecontrol...! That spinning wheel is not for the fainthearted...Wink

I will gladly experiment on different matter/s, dare not test my kit on this one yet...Cool

Cheers
Tom

PS. Chris, I'm glad you took this to the Development forum and didn't continue the old thread...Wink

Hoi chris
I have a sneaky and dont use the volue control but get the same close problem. I also find that the Mac version crashes everytime I try and change from Radio to DS. Good to see there is some advance at least.
Cheers Ian

RE: KDT Mac Experimental
I don't understand how KDT Mac is in such a state! You'd think that the interface would be the easiest part to throw together (even if it were dead basic) and the back end would just be uniform across all the releases.

Not that I have any programming experience, but you know, I like to make outbursts every once in a while! Smile

The more I think about this stuff the more I think I should actually dive in to trying to knock something together myself... knowing where/how to start just seems so daunting. :x

RE: KDT Mac Experimental
I gave up Kinski and settled on Songbook and recently ChorusDS <http://forums.linn.co.uk/bb/showthread.php?tid=6934&highlight=chorusDS>.
Both programs have a modern GUI and have features Kinski lacks. Frankly: Kinski looks like a crocodile compared to Songbook and ChorusDS.

RE: KDT Mac Experimental
What features do these control points have that Kinsky Desktop is missing? For the purpose of this question, let's talk about windows Kinsky Desktop vs. Mac (not iPhone, iTouch, IPad) Songbook and ChorusDS.

Off Topic
I like KDT on windows and LOVE ChorusDS on iPad.
KDT does everything I need or at least I've accustomed myself to using it.
ChorusDS is FAST and is best by far to get up and controlling my DS. AFAIK it does not allow me to change from DS to other sources. It is the one I prefer to use for most situations.

Back on Topic

It's a shame that you stubborn Mac users can't have a working KDT. I'm a Mac and PC guy, my music is worth bowing to Bill. Spoon with his dBPowerAmp is another GREAT reason to bootcamp to windows. I mean no offense to you MAC guys. (I'd start a new thread for that if I did Wink )

RE: KDT Mac Experimental
Once in a while I use Kinski desktop in Windows 7 or Ubuntu, just to see how it worked.
I like the fact that artwork is really quickly loaded, the feature I really miss is to filter or search albums, artists or whatever tag is available. Browsing through 900 albums without filtering takes ages. Typing zita swoon to find the album "I paint pictures on a wedding dress", takes 3 seconds.

@gmeddens, Have you tried just clicking in the pane (left hand panel in default view) you want to search and typing the first few letters? It goes right to what I want. I am sure it works with Albums view and my usual Folders view.

RE: KDT Mac Experimental
Yes this works! How could I have missed this ... interface ?
But no use for filtering albums from an artist, which is how I choose what to listen to.

RE: KDT Mac Experimental
Maybe if in the Artist view, but IIRC the Artist view is by songs not albums.
