Non Cara 7 Multi-Room Rack Setup
I've read / tested with interest around Cara 6 and what I can and can't expect with Internet radio in Q2 2010.

Also there appears to be no clear roadmap as to when / if we will get "party mode" with "Cara 7" - as I have self termed it!!

I've with much thanks to Briain got all my album art working on the QNAP 409 running with no problems at all to my MDS.

The next logical move for me is to go all Akurate Aktiv in my main room. I have a few questions around the Akurate Pre but that can wait for another day.

So this brings me to the next stage of planning for an all Linn household setup!

I've enclosed a matrix as to what I think is needed in the rack for say a bathroom and bedroom 2 zone system. (Linn in-celing speakers and 2 TV's connected only with HDMI).

I've put this in the development section, but feel free to throw it out to either a Pronto/Custom Install forum!!

Probably @ Rik,

Using the Pronto my thinking is that I should be able to select the correct (same BBC radio station) on each of the Sat boxes - (using the IR connection from the Sat boxes to the RFX9600). Also using the Pronto for DS, I should then be able to select these as a Co-x In sources on the Sekrits and have them play more or less at the same time!?

If the TVs are fed just using the Chord HDMI Matrix, can I a) use Pronto (using the IR connection to the RFX9600) control in this way and b) rely on the Sekrits for the audio or do you think there will be lip sync issues?

Probably @ Briain,

Without going to the 8 bay QNAP range do you think the 459 is going to be fairly future proof allowing for my FLAC collection to double to say 14,000 tracks and allow very quick access and download of album art on say a iPAD? (Clearly this has yet to be tested - I'd put a wireless access point in to ensure there is no bottle neck and what I have now with the 409 and using an iPod touch works fine).

I can't see anything from the network equipment selected that is likely to cause problems / go against a Linn recommended setup. I've also left some space so I hope the rack can take all of this without heating up too much!

I don't currently have a UPS at home, as far as I can see, the draw on the 4 components to be connected should give me at least 4 hours to then be able to safely power the NAS down in the event of a power failure.

@ Linn / All

With Cara 7!!!

I hope this in theory would then allow me to add DSi / Sekrits to other rooms (using powerline / homeplugs) and therefore avoid the cost of Crestron / AMX now that (from what I have read here) Knekt is no longer sold!

Many thanks...
