RE: Cirkus Upgrade query
I would not recommend you to buy this LP12. When the seller shows his/her lack of understanding by using an old innerplatter together with a new bearing I would for sure looked elsewhere.
As others have recommended I would also use a decent dealer and bought a S/H LP12 from him/her.
I don't know too many dealers but the knowledge and attention to details for the products that Peter (Cymbiosis) shows is by far the best I have experienced.

-LP12/Keel/Radikal/Ekos SE/sKale/Benz LP
-LP12/Keel/Armageddon/Ekos 2/Benz Ruby 2
-Audio Research SP-11/Mark Levinson No. 27.5
-ProAc Response 3.8

RE: Cirkus Upgrade query
Surely the situation, as described, is quite straightforward. If a new Cirkus kit inner platter/spindle unit has not been fitted, then the unit cannot be said to have had a Cirkus Upgrade - a factor which should be reflected in the purchase price. If it was actually described as having had a Cirkus Upgrade, this should be grounds for cancellation of the deal - or some form of recompense if the purchase has already been completed. This occurrence highlights the benefit of having a full, reliable, history of purchases of this nature.

RE: Cirkus Upgrade query
Hi Kiteman, The issue wasn't about being misinformed it was about the consequences of not fitting a new inner platter along with the rest of the Cirkus components.
Anyway I have now moved on and am on the hunt for an LP12 with the 'full' Cirkus upgrade Smile

A big thank you to all members for their comments and advice.

Mayby You should look for LP12 without Cirkus, and then upgrade it with a new one ... This is the way I have done it, and I am fully satisfied of my TT

RE: Cirkus Upgrade query
I played around with mixing Cirkus and pre-Cirkus components a while back. At the time I couldn't decide whether I preferred the warmth of the old bearing against the improved focus with the new. The combination of the Cirkus inner platter with the old bearing shell was actually quite a nice compromise, offering most of the warmth with some of the improved focus. I played my deck like that for a little while before I grew up and went full Cirkus. Cirkus bearing shell with old inner platter didn't work so well, sounded kind of muddy rather than warm.

RE: Cirkus Upgrade query
I´am wondering if it is possible today to buy new pre-cirkus Innerplatter with the right pre-cirkus bearing at Linn´s?

RE: Cirkus Upgrade query
As far as I am aware - all bearings (inner and outer) sold by Linn as spares are Cirkus specificatipon only. The Cirkus inner platter is the same specification as the previouse; it is the outer section (the female section) that is different.

RE: Cirkus Upgrade query
If I recall correctly, the spindle length on the Cirkus inner platter was slightly different from the non-Cirkus such that the entire platter assembly would ride higher/lower if they were interchanged. I think the OP did well to walk away from this one.
