Compatibility Family
According to the Wiki :

"Linn uses the notion of a "Compatibility Family" to help customers identify compatibility between the different versions of LinnGui and the different versions of a product's firmware. "

And there are three different compatability classes (A, B and C[ara]).

My question is what is the feature set of each of these classes.

My guess is:-

A = First release
Only support for urn:linn-co-uk:service:Media:1 not a true UPnP Media renderer only controlable by Linn GUI.

B = Current Release
Added support for urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:RenderingControl:1 now controllable by any UPnP compliant Control Point

C[ara] = Future Release
A new service type added with extra capabilities, hinted at not being backwards compatible with urn:linn-co-uk:service:Media:1

RE: Compatibility Family
Hi Rik,

Currently there is only 1 compatibility family available, Auskerry.

Contrary to what you stated in your post, I would like to make it clear that Auskerry supports both the Linn Media service and the services specified by the UPnP AV 1.0 Media Renderer specification.

Appropriate documentation about the features of future compatibility families will be posted when they are publicly available.

David

RE: Compatibility Family
Hi Dave,

thanks for clearing that up. I was only postulating based on the following:

The interface described here is implemented by Auskerry and Bute compatible products. However, the interface will change in upcoming Cara compatible releases.

Which I'd wrongly taken to read that the Auskerry & Bute products we current (or current firmware versions) and Cara was a future product / firmware issue.

The only think I can find wishing in the current capability set is the ability to sych multiple devices to stream from the same source pool. c.f. Sonos joining zones.
