Amp hiss problem
I am running a Sneaky DS straight into a 2250 power amp which bi-wired into a pair of ProAc Response D15s.

I had this setup running perfectly for about 4 months and then there was a power cut while it was running quite high (about 75%).
After that I noticed a hiss coming out of the speakers (exactly the same as when you put your ear up to speaker on a cheaper stereo), which definitely was not there before.
At first I thought that there may have been some damage to the amp so I took it to my Linn dealer. However, having checked it out they cannot find anything wrong with it.

If anybody has any ideas about this they would be very much appreciated.

Thanks
Alex

RE: Amp hiss problem
Hiss tends to be bad power supply filter capacitors. Tough call as a Linn service is going to be £400 prob and the amp is only worth about £650 in fully working order. Really depends on how bad the hiss is. Perhaps also worth turning off everything else in the house execept 2250 and seeing if hiss still there.

RE: Amp hiss problem
If it is the PSU it could be worth considering a Dynamik upgrade.

RE: Amp hiss problem
- Fault started after a wild power cut.
- You checked the 2250 and they found it to be OK

Why not to check the SDS...? Digital devices do not like wild power cuts, at least as much as power amps don't... Additionally there is a power amp on the DS too, which could be influential although you do not use it.
