LP12 DEALER SETUP
I saw a mates KEELED/ARO/Akiva LP12 today.
Set up by Grahams in London.
What a load of shite.
They used to be good at this,Not any more.
Two now over the last few months that are just record players.
Setup is rubbish arm up in the air,Keel not flush or even level/bounce is horrid and nocking on bits under the top plate.
Wrong. IMO someone needs a kick up the bum BIG TIME.Rolleyes

The only time I went there was a few years ago on a visit from NZ. I told them as much, said I was just happy just looking at the record selection but mainly just wanted to see what the renowned Graham's was about, or something similar. For some inexplicable reason the atmosphere turned very icy and so was out of there a few minutes later.
Quite the opposite happened at a more recent visit to Billy Vee's, where they gave me the guided tour.

(Just quietly, in any case, I had already spent my holiday funds at Paxton and Whitfield Big Grin)

Hammond, Rhodes and Moog but the musical instrument I play most is my LP12.

RE: LP12 DEALER SETUP
Note that Linn and naim arms have different weight. Aro is lighter and when the platter is level, the Keel is not.

The platter is level with the Keel in any case, i.e. if the platter is level to the plinth, the Keel is also level to the plinth regardless of the weight of the arm.

RE: LP12 DEALER SETUP
This is impossible. Even the plinth is not level when it's on Tramplolin2.

My LP12 is on a wallshelf where I can adjust the shelf with 4 spikes. I do the adjustment with the LP12 in place and adjust for the plinth in level and not the shelf.

RE: LP12 DEALER SETUP
You have nice options, Hallgrim. I can't do this with the fraim and the plinth is off level. I try to get the platter level and the Aro parallel to the LP, while keeping a good bounce.

RE: LP12 DEALER SETUP
Isn't it better to cut some sheets of paper and put under the left leg on the Trampolin so you get the plinth leveled? If the plinth is unleveled, the hangers will not be vertical anymore and it's hard to get a perfect bounce with any horizontal movements.

RE: LP12 DEALER SETUP
This a good question. Most dealers level the platter on the jig, where the Trampolin2 feet are not in action. After that, on the rack we have a different story. The platter is not level.

Getting the platter level on the final position takes more trials, but it gives better balance IMHO.

RE: LP12 DEALER SETUP
Yes, but the problem is that the hangers (the bolts where the springs and grommets are fastened) will not be vertical and that could be a problem.
How do you level the platter then? The weight of a leveller will most probably affect the suspension. And from an aesthetical point of view the armboard will not be level to the plinth.

If its works for you, OK, but I would recommend you to have the plinth level.
