That effect is too subtle to work, and the strong upright of the L in Linn, and the awful serifs on that letter make the pyramid disappear altogether. I think that vanishing point effect is far less visible than the column formed by the logo and the word LINN. The big heavy logo and brand name forming that column sit uncomfortably on the little people at the bottom, many of whom are going to get crushed by the weight of the branding juggernaut. This is brand over product. If they wanted a pyramidal reflection of the stylus they should have found a better way of working it so that it wasn't overwhelmed by the cruder shapes. There just aren't enough words to make a working pyramid unless you do it like the opening scene in Star Wars, which would be a bit crap.

The problem with the Linn *circle* logo is that it's a bit Audio-Technica-ish.

Interesting that the Audio-Technica folks who make cartridge showing a stylus pointing up, whilst Linn who make a turntable showing a stylus pointing down on to a record.

I don't think the current font choice is awful as Optima is so 70s and went out of style long time ago.

My understanding is on the Linn logo the horizontal line and inverted triangle actually represents the point contact bearing rather then a stylus on a record.

The horizontal line represents the thrust plate and the triangle represents the end of the spindle.

I thought the bearing point of contact was a spherical. It would be interesting to find out who designed the logo.

Hmm, some design Giza puts a pyramid on a horizontal plateau to reflect an image from above .....
