Chorus and mac HELP!
Hi,
I hope someone can help. I have been struggling to get my ds-i working with my mac. I have downloaded chorus after reading so many good things about it but I can't get beyond the opening screen of it. It doesn't seem to load playlists from my qnap server or my mac. Quite honestly i don't think it can even see my playlists. Can anyone help? Is there a manual?

Maybe my issue is that konfig doesn't seem to find my ds-i at all. I resorted to my pc that found it right away. I want to use my mac though - and the chorus software. I have an iphone that I want to use the chorus app with but I am hesitant to buy it until I can get it working on my mac.
Thanks in advance. (Sorry if this question sounds basic - I am new to the ds world) Smile

RE: Chorus and mac HELP!
A little more information would be helpful.

Can Chorus see anything, or is it just the playlists that are missing? What were the playlists made with?

RE: Chorus and mac HELP!
there seems to be very good reason that linn states: has to be installed by dealer!!

well...

so you've got a pc running as well - very good. and i read from your words, that you found the relevant items on the pc, so lets start this way. assume your configuration is twonky running on qnap as a server.

open linn konfig on the pc and check what it can see. there should be your ds and your twonky appearing. check the ip-numbers, are they in the same area (eg. both on 10.0.1.xx) and subnet. yes, then you should be able to play music. try it by using kinsky desktop, think this worked already for you!?! if you do not see the ds, please power cycle and check ip with the remotes "help" button - there you have ALLL relevant network information.

then start your mac and check if this one is in the same ip-area/subnet as well, if not, you have to fix it and rearrange your network, check if there is only one ip-adress (dhcp) server on your network (mostly your router). you can open routers config and check the ip adresses it provides to the different items by identifying them with their individual mac-adress. all your stuff (ds, qnap, mac, pc, iphone) must (!) be mentioned there.

open chorus mac and you should see both twonky on qnap and your ds. maybe you do "clear all devices and rescan" under file menu. if not... ping both of them using netcenter, disable firewall if ping is not returning. start chorus - running chorus at that state you can only see the twonky but you can start chorus server to find your itunes library under "settings" now (never did myself so i'm not into it). keep in mind that this one is running only if your mac is powerd, the twonky should be always visible later on when you use your iphone (wlan on the same ip-area as well) for directing.

hope it helps - manfred

RE: Chorus and mac HELP!
manfred - Yes it worked - you helped - and greatly. Smile

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my post. I got everything working last night - it was like a linn ds miracle at our home. The struggle was definitely worth it. (although I agree dealers should help more in the set up).
Now for the 'fun' part - ripping my cd collection.
Thanks again for your help.
I believe we are in different parts of the world - so cheers from Canada! Smile

In reply to Irri's post - I couldn't get chorus to see anything and I haven't attempted playlists yet (next step). All is working now, thank you.
