I think that you can use a asymetrical / symetrical / asymetrical device, in fact two asymetrical / symetrical devices. You must modify one of them in order to invert two wires on the symerical side.

He means "absolute phase", inverting both channel polarity in order to re-establish the correct absolute phase (speaker move first out, then in). This will be useful because some components, due to their design, invert the absolute phase and also to correct the absolute phase on many records.
