Best location to position TT and equipment
Hi All,

Just moved into a new place and have a room all to myself for all my stereo equipment and was looking for some guidance on LP12 placment.
The room is 17’-L x 14’ W x 9’H with a picture window at one end and a wall closet with sliding doors at the other. I was thinking to us my Target wall mount for the LP12 on the outside load bearing wall towards the back of the room at the 2/3 mark. I have mono-blocks that will be next to the speakers in the front and can run balanced inter-connects from the pre-amp to the amps so I can keep the lingo/linto/pre-amp all under the wall mount was my thought.
The other option would be to put all the equipment on a rack up front in-between the speakers there by keeping it all out of the line of fire so to say. Not sure if it’s that big of deal or if there are some for sure no-no’s, like keep equipment away for the corners and such.
Thanks in advance for any help and Happy New Year.

RE: Best location to position TT and equipment
Just a couple of thoughts based on what you describe.....

It's best to keep the space between your speakers clear if you can. Between the speakers has a certain logic, but should be avoided if poss (impacts on soundstage...) The positioning of the rack is often restricted by the placement of wall sockets, windows, doors, central heating radiators etc. Siting the rack will then determine/restrict the placement of your tt. Wall racks are good, especially if you have a suspended floor, but still require connecting to the pre, Lingo & Linto, so above the rack is fine usually. Good to have at chest height or thereabouts.

The secret is the experiment with positioning. This is especially true with your speakers as they'll sound different in a new room. In fact, speaker positioning and the interaction with the new room acoustics is likely to be your biggest challenge to get right, but worth the effort.

Hope some of this helps.

RE: Best location to position TT and equipment
As already said in the above post, keep clear the space between the speakers unless you are going to use very low tables against the back wall. Strongly recommended a side wall location for all the system and keep the turntable far away from the speakers and corners. Better a longer speaker cable than a bulk of equipments between the speakers on tall racks.

Cheers
