Replacement LP12 Storage box and other questions

Hi,
I have a 1986 LP12 with a Lingo/ Linto electronics. I will be emigrating to the USA next year... does anyone know if the electronics will be US compatible?
I also will need a better LP12 storage box. Are replacement boxes available?

Linn sell the LP12 boxes on ebay or via a dealer.

If you take a look at the boack of the Lingo and Linto you will see that they can be converted to 120V - will most likely need different rated fuses.

As the Lingo powers the LP12 then you need only reset the back of the Lingo. Obviuously don't plug it back into UK mains once you have changed it!!

Frankly ridiculously expensive.

Well, there is no other proper way to ship an LP12. At least for me it was a no-brainer. It has already seen me through one international move and there are still a couple to go.

The LP12 uses custom made packing.There are two cardboard sleeved cartons and a number of injection made polystyrene pieces to house the platter and deck itself , and also the lid and inner platter assembly.Boxes cost money to make and store and the shipping cost in the UK is probably the same empty as full.

I would guess that comparable complete packing for other decks like NA Hyperspace /DPS/Roksan Xerxes/SME 20/Michell Orbe etc are as much if not a whole lot more.

The same reaction has been given about LP12 belts in the past without reference to competitors.The , "greedy Scottish B------s should be lined up against a wall" comments that I have previously seen on sites like PFM make no mention of the fact that a Linn belt is actually only £17.00 , whereas a belt for an SME 20 , Well Tempered Reference, DPS etc etc is actually a whole lot more, the Well Tempered being something like £70.00 if I remember correctly.

My 'reaction' to Linn charging nearly £70 for a 'cardboard box' and 'polystyrene' was completely reasonable.

By the way I've owned a Linn system for nearly ten years and wanted to own one for alot longer.So I'm not a Linn basher,just shocked and amazed at the price.Which I think is fair comment.

If you want your deck to be shipped and covered by insurance?Get the right box for the job.
Naim sell some of there boxes for around the same money just for pre and power amps,Just a box with two bits of foam in..
The Linn box FROM LINN is very good value for money.IMO
I have to move my SL2s tomorrow ,Just to another room for a few days.
Thank god i have the boxes if i ever needed to ship around the worlld.
They cost loads for two new ones.
And you have to go to school to find out how to put them back in the box,Easy to get out. but bloody hard to put back

Slightly back OT.... I asked Linn about a packing carton for a Sizmik last year.
It's possible - at a cost. £241.03, to be precise.

Then again, there was talk recently of cartons for a set of 350 speakers clocking in at approx £1K.

Keep those boxes.
