RE: what software
Ivan,

I've happily used Max this last 10 months or so. It seems to work fine except for the cover art which I seem to have to manually change to a file called "Folder.jpg" as opposed to "Folder.jpeg" assigned by Max. ONly then do I get the cover art to display in the control software (my favourite of which is Chorus).

As for the Max preference settings, I most confess ignorance (I don't know how much set up my dealer did). In the Output tab, I have "use a custom format for output file naming" ticked and under the Ripper tab I have "cdparanoia" selected with the "check for C2 errors" and "error correction" boxes ticked, with "Full paranoia" selected from the drop down box under "error correction".

I have also ripped in ALAC from itunes, and FLAC using Songbook, but I think (although it might be my imagination) that Max gives a better result. Max takes a lot longer to rip than either of those, but I perversely (and probably quite wrongly) draw comfort from that.

Peter
