RE: Major change in the music industry
It could be argued that the sale of digital music playing devices has accelerated the decline of the music industry by giving people an easy means to play illegally copied music (weather this be on a small scale between friends, or on a large scale via torrents).
On the one hand I have always thought that Linn owners were a pretty morally sound group of people - but on the other hand, both my own personal experiences and reading on the forum about Linn owners with over 50,000 songs on their NAS , it begs the question as to how prevalent illegal copying and use of torrents is amongst the DS owning community. Piracy and copying is an emotive subject and for many DS owners this makes them unwilling to admit things publicly in a forum. Personally I would love to know how prevalent this is but this could only be established by a forum poll which would have to be anonymous. Q1 – Do you posses any illegally copied music ? Q2 – Have you ever used torrents ? It would make interesting (and probably sobering) reading for all those interested in the future of the music industry See what music I'm listening to now and my charts at : http://www.last.fm/user/petercrox Klimax DS/1 - Kilmax Kontrol/1 - 2 x Akurate 4200 w Chakra Aktive Cards - Keltiks with Chakra Tweeter Upgrade. |
