Hi
I do have a really strange problem: I cannot access my Sneaky from one specific computer via LinnGUI, LinnConfig instead discovers it "halfways"...

Here's the setup:
The PC in my office-room is connected via WIRED LAN to a FritzBox WLAN-Router, my Laptop connects to this very router via WLAN. From this router, I do run an Ethernet-cable to my living-room, where a NetgearSwitch distributes to BluRay, HD-DVD, NAS and Sneaky. Router and Switch run in DHCP-mode.

Running LinnGUI and LinnConfig from the Laptop works without a problem, but running them from my PC (same uptodate versions like on Laptop), LinnGUI never discovers neither NAS (still can see it on my PC in Windows Explorer under NetworkPlaces!!!) nor Sneaky.
LinnConfig via PC does actually discover Sneaky, but is unable to read the configuration (it always says "revtrieving" with "room name" and "device name" and displays wrong settings in the other fields. Still it discovers both MacAddress and Family (Bute).

How comes, that using the very same route (via router and switch, the only difference being WLAN and LAN connection to the router), things work fine with my laptop and fail with my PC?

Thanks for helping!

I'de be very interested to see other forum users view of a hierarchy of Linn Power Amps from -
most basic (and best avoided) via
recommended (just affordable) to
best (and currently unaffordable!)

I'm thinking of using my LK280 in my living room/AV system to power some good B&W outdoor speakers in the graden, and so I'll be looking to upgrade the LK280 in my main Linn audio set-up in my study with alternative Linn power amplification - which must be an improvement over the LK280. Ideally I'd like to bi-amp my audio system speakers, so any comments on bi-amping in a Linn hierarchy would be more than useful. Bi-wiring could do at a pinch, but I'm really keen to see how I can get the best bang for the buck on the pre-owned market.

I'm not into Aktiv. I'm driving a pair of B&W683s

Please could forum members say if there is an official Linn power amp hierarchy - including discontinued models, e.g. LK models & Klout - and if there's not an official Linn version, can someone have a go at constructing one, please?

If anyone has a suitable Linn power amp solution (< £1k) that they'd like to sell, then PM me!

Thanks

I can't afford the full SE treatment, so I guess I will have to stick with my LVIII - will this fit on a Keel? Has anyone heard one in A Keel setup?

Or am I wasting my money and should I just mount an Ekos SE on my current armboard/subchassis arrangement?
Thanks in advance for any comments/pointers

While this situation persists - and there are constant rumours that Apple will open up device and software support for FLAC - i need to maintain the two formats....

Even if Apple DO have a change of policy, there are the storage concerns for the ipod, so i may wish to continue using a compressed format for non critical listening.

So a question:

Do any of the ripping tools discussed on this forum have functionality to allow simultanious ripping in TWO formats? ...i.e. Rip to FLAC and to MP3 in the same "session" ...i'd like to avoid having to double hand my ripping...

Alternatively - and this is less than ideal as it still requires additional effort - does anybody know of a quick way to convert FLAC to MP3? ...and is this configurable to a specific Bitrate (I use High Quality VBR for my MP3's)

When i run the GUI from my main PC I get a slider bar on the right of both of the 2 main boxes in the GUI ie Music and current play list. Plus I get the usual 3 icons in the top right of the GUI screen. Ie minimise, reduce, and close.
With the GUI operating on the Samsung Tablet I do not get the slider bars. and I only get to icon in the top right corner Minimise and close. The close icon not being the usual X in a red box but just a square in a blue box.
Has anyone had this problem, and is there a solution?

Would be grateful to hear from anyone who has a seggestion

Thanks

Hi there

I've just purchased a Linn Classik Movie second-hand.

I've come across two things. Firstly, when I tried to play a couple home-made dual layer DVD discs and it didn't play although they do on another player I have. Secondly, pre-recorded DVDs seem to 'jump' every so often which they don't when played on other players.

So, can my Linn play dual layer DVDs or only single layer and is it a fault with the player that causes the jumps or is it inherent it the Classik Movie?

Regards
