Hi everyone,

This is my first post and I have been reading the site with interest (although I admit a lot of it is beyond me!)

I have always loved Linn since hearing a demo at a hifi show when I was about 15 (well over 20 years ago). I've had a Classik Music K for quite a while and have always loved it. It has been paired up with a pair of Ruark Epilogue II on Super Dreadnought stands and I love the sound. I then added a LK140 and loved that as well, but using it to drive either the drivers or the tweeters it was apparent that it made a real improvement to one or the other. Unfortunately due to the arrival of twin boys it's all been packed away as they liked to play with the buttons and swing off the speakers. However, in the meantime I've brought another LK140.

I'm now thinking of speaker upgrades (in anticipation of getting ot all out again). I'd been looking at non-Linn brands but then I heard about going Aktiv and I thought that if I got Linn speakers there would be a further cost effective upgrade in the future.

So first, I understand what Aktiv cards do but can someone point me to where I would find out how many I'd need for my amp set up? And then secondly (or maybe this should be first) what speakers I should be looking at in the Linn range (past or present). Room size is about 5m x 7m with a regular ceiling height. Whilst I like bass to be present and to 'fill the space' a clear accurate and bright (but non-fatigue inducing) treble is most important. Price wise, I guess around £1k mark to avoid a divorce, although I do prefer second hand if possible so someone else takes the big hit and would adjust a budget downward accordingly.

So, any advice on speakers and then moving aktiv would be much appreciated.

I've tried and tried and cannot find the K600 speaker cables here in the USA (I need 15 meters total). My dealer has contacted the Linn office here and they don't have any K600 left.

I considered getting 2 pairs of K400 but that is not available either. s/h listings get sold out very quickly or don't have the lengths I need.

I currently have mixed cables in my system at lengths shorter than I need (I moved my equipment and need longer runs) and am looking to go all Linn. But this is frustrating.

If Linn has stopped making the K400 and K600 cables, it would be very helpful to know if there are new cables to be released soon. If so, I would gladly wait.

Or if its just a stock issue and we will get more in stock soon, that would be good news too. Either way, it would help to know what's going on.

Other good brands seem ridiculously overpriced for the lengths I need.

Does anyone know what Linn's plan is with speaker cables?

Thanks!

Looking at the specs, I noticed that the Akurate 226 sub offers "servo-controlled bass". I would assume that this will produce more accurate bass.
Is this correct?
I'm a little confused as a) Blu-Ray sound-tracks are often the latest HD audio formats which the Kisto doesn't recognise, so I'm not quite sure what sound format I'm listening to through the analogs. And how would that change if I connected digitally?
Any help / insight gratefully received. By the way I'm delighted with the Oppo - the SE version has enhanced analog outputs so both picture and sound are superb (I'm watching on a new Pioneer Kuro 6090. It is also more than passable dealing with SACD and DVD-A.
